The Grammy’s 2025: Which Sheffield course matches these outfits?

These outfits are just so academic

The Grammy Awards are all about celebrating talent, but what if we took a moment to match the stars with something a little more academic? With their unique styles, personalities, and talents, each celeb seems like they could be studying something totally different. So, if they swapped the spotlight for a classroom, which course would they sign up for?

Let’s take a fun spin through the Grammys and match these red-carpet icons with their perfect Sheffield degree.

Sabrina Carpenter – Drama

Sabrina Carpenter’s pale blue, old Hollywood-style gown, complete with a diamond neckline and her signature blonde bouncy blowout in a classy updo, screams old-world glamour with a modern twist.

It’s the kind of ensemble that demands attention without saying a word – and isn’t that what drama is all about? Much like her style, drama is about expression, presence, and the art of telling a story through every detail.

Sabrina’s look channels the timeless elegance of classic cinema, and with her show-stopping, theatrical performance of “Espresso” last night, I can easily picture Sabby C thriving in a drama class at Sheffield.

Gracie Abrams – English Literature

Gracie Abrams’ off-the-shoulder bridal-inspired dress with the black belt feels straight out of a Brontë novel. The soft, flowing silhouette and delicate veil exude that classic, romantic charm, while the bold black belt adds a hint of strength and mystery.

It’s the perfect look for someone who would be just as at home reading the works of the Brontë sisters as they are strolling through campus. I can definitely picture Gracie studying english literature at Sheffield, where she’d dive into the timeless beauty and depth of those unforgettable literary characters.

Chappell Roan – Art

Chapel Roan is known for her bold, drag queen inspired looks, always pushing boundaries and embracing theatrical flair. Her yellow gown, paired with ballerina flats, sheer blue gloves, and a colourful headpiece, creates a vivid, larger than life presence. The bold makeup only adds to the artistic extravagance of the outfit. It’s a look that screams self-expression and creativity.

Her outfit is a masterpiece in itself, showcasing her flair for mixing colours, textures, and ideas in a way that mirrors the boundary-pushing nature of art. And so, I could definitely see this “best new artist” creating some visually striking works of her own at Sheffield.

Olivia Rodrigo – Law

Olivia Rodrigo’s high-neck black dress was the perfect mix of sophistication and edge – classic in silhouette but daring with its bold cut-outs. It’s the kind of look that commands attention, much like someone studying law at Sheffield, balancing sharp intellect with a fearless attitude.

The refined structure reflects discipline and precision, while the unexpected details hint at someone who knows the rules but isn’t afraid to challenge them. It’s polished, powerful, and just rebellious enough – exactly the energy you’d expect from a law student ready to make their mark.

Troye Sivan – Medicine

Troye Sivan looked effortlessly chic in a lilac-blue suit, but with its relaxed fit and soft tones, it was kind of giving scrubs (but in a fashionable way of course).  The kind of look that says: “Yes, I’ve been up since 5am on hospital rounds, but I still have time to look this good.”

He looks like a med student that has their life together, which is quite a rare find here at Sheffield (all jokes). He would be so calm under pressure, and somehow always looking put together, despite the chaos of lectures, placements and late-night library sessions.

Alicia Keys – History

Alicia Keys stunned in a boxy black dress with a bejewelled golden bodice and statement gold earrings – an outfit that immediately gives Cleopatra energy. Regal, powerful, and dripping in historical influence, it’s the kind of look that makes you think she’d be deep in the archives studying ancient rulers and legendary figures.

She looks that she would love analysing the impact of famous leaders, diving into their legacies and bringing that same commanding presence to every seminar discussion.

Cynthia Erivo – Engineering

Cynthia Erivo’s outfit was very robotic, in the chicest way possible – a structured navy-blue gown with a deep V-cut, metallic details shining through, and impossibly long silver nails that felt straight out of a sci-fi movie.

The whole look screams innovation, like she’s about to design the next cutting-edge technology or single-handedly build a spaceship, which is exactly why I would imagine her in the Diamond, “holding space” for some intricate assembling of things – or whatever else engineers do.
