Bristol has emerged as the UK city with the highest percentage of people wanting to resign from their jobs, suggesting dissatisfaction in the city’s job market.

The research, carried out by The Tab, has revealed that 4.12 per cent of Bristol’s population is contemplating quitting their jobs, a significant bump from Manchester’s 3.95 per cent in second place.

This could impact students who are considering their future employment options here in Bristol.

The study, taking figures from 2022, has looked at average monthly and annual search terms that suggest people want to leave their jobs. The different search terms were then ranked by popularity.

In Bristol, the most popular searches were ‘resignation letter’, ‘resignation letter template’, and ‘good reasons for leaving a job’.

Other terms in the study included: ‘my job gives me anxiety’, ‘how do I quit my job’, and ‘how to hand in your notice’.

These findings may be useful for students and recent graduates who are choosing between locations for work.

Bristol is home to a various startups, cultural enterprises, and innovative businesses, so the high percentage of job dissatisfaction raises questions about where the issues may lie.

London appears to have ranked unexpectedly low on the list, placing 1oth with only 3.24% of the population searching about leaving their jobs.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, Bradford has been recorded as the city with the lowest percentage of employees wishing to leave their jobs.

Reasons for job dissatisfaction may stem from various factors, such as pay inequality, workplace culture, or the rising cost of living.
