This is the heartbreaking reason the players in Squid Game season two are all so young
This is actually so sad
In some aspects season two of Squid Game feels very similar to the previous season, but in others completely different. One such difference is the age of the contestants.
Whereas last season most of them seemed a similar age to Gi-hun or older, the contestants in season two of Squid Game are noticeably younger, with a lot of them seeming in their twenties and thirties.
I mean the fact Thanos even exists in the show is all the evidence you need that this season is trying to showcase how debt can also impact the younger generation, introducing themes such as cryptocurrency. I don’t know why but it’s all giving me slight Hawk Tuah girl cryptocurrency vibes with her meme coin…
And it turns out that’s no coincidence as the creator of the show, Hwang Dong-hyuk wanted the younger age of the contestants to reflect current trends in society and the desperation the younger generation feels.
In an interview with The Wrap, Hwang Dong-hyuk explained more about the change in ages for the players of Squid Game season two, explaining: “There are a lot of younger generations who are already neck deep in debt.”
He added: “Because [this season’s players] are younger, it led to the increase of diversity within the games and also a sense of wildness. They have a lot of adrenaline and energy. This took the craziness of the games to another level.”

Honestly, if the age of the players keeps getting younger and younger by the season we’re going to have a Squid Game season revolving around babies trying to reach a pacifier before too long!
