The unofficial guide to the best vegan spots in Leeds

We’ve got you covered just in time for Veganuary

Are you thinking of giving Veganuary a go next month or simply looking for a new, posh plant-based spot in Leeds? As a meat-eater you may be apprehensive about taking on the challenge – unsure of where to go for a good, hearty but meat-less meal.

But, from someone who also loves a good chicken stir-fry or pork steak, there are actually some really great options in the city which I would choose any month of the year for some good old grub.

From stunning brunch options to classic dinners and desserts, definitely add some (or all) of these spots to your list to explore during your green, clean January.

Hyde Park Book Club

A classic. Can any Leeds student say that they haven’t heard about this infamous café in Leeds?

Students living in Hyde Park or Headingley can often be found indulging in a rich coffee and brunch delight here, and it is clear to see why. Even with everything on the menu being veggie and vegan, the food is great! Whether this is your first or fiftieth time, this is absolutely the spot to go to during your January diet change.

I recommend the ‘The Big Book Club Breakfast’ – you won’t regret it.

Fint

If you’re looking for a date night or ‘fancy-food’ option then Fint in Leeds is a great option.

With a brunch/lunch and evening menu, there are many vegan options which you are sure to find a favourite from and they all fit the brief for a romantic night out with your significant other, your best friend or even just yourself!

Doboy Donuts

If you’re in the mood for a sweet treat instead then why not explore Doboy Donuts? It has one of its three locations in Leeds and they make the donuts fresh every day. Full of vegan options, this could be your next plant-based sugar fix.

There are different seasonal donuts and a range of vegan milkshakes which you can either check out in person or get delivered straight to your door. I mean look at them… what more could you want when your sweet tooth starts to ache?

Wapentake

If you’re a Sunday roast-lover like me and worried about where to get that hearty roast on your day of rest then do not fear because we have the perfect spot. Wapentake offer a completely vegan roast on Sundays and other mouth-watering plant-based delights to get your teeth into.

This authentic, cosy and welcoming spot can be found just by the Corn Exchange and would be perfect to visit on a cold Sunday. Head there for a cosy catch up and a great meal.

Bundobust

If an Indian twist on veganism is more your speed, Bundobust is the perfect option.

Why not be adventurous and opt for their delicious ‘vegan combo for two’ which includes their ‘Okra Fries’ and ‘Chole Saag’. Alternatively, you can select a few of your own plant dishes from their large menu. The vibes are immaculate and the food is fantastic.

All that’s left to say is enjoy!
