People spot a major plot hole that makes the entire of La Palma on Netflix ridiculous

I’m rolling my eyes

Disaster series La Palma might have gone straight into the top spot on Netflix, but people are calling out a massive plot hole that makes the show a bit ridiculous.

The show follows a Norwegian family vacationing on La Palma. They face disaster when a young researcher discovers alarming signs of an imminent volcanic eruption. Following the eruption, there’s a huge tsunami, with the ferocious power to wipe out entire cities and people.

But, the Netflix show doesn’t really give us that – let’s put it that way.

People have found an annoying plot hole in La Palma on Netflix

Whilst the show is fictional, there are aspects of it that are based on real life, and real disasters people of La Palma have faced.

The show is based on a real life theory that, one day, a Manhattan-sized chunk of the Cumbre Vieja volcano could collapse and fall into the sea. The theory says this could then cause a tsunami, and kill millions of people. Scientists have since said that this is highly unlikely, and the theory is widely viewed as having been debunked.

But, that’s where the plot hole in La Palma comes in. The original theory states that *if* anything like that did happen, the majority of Europe and some the US would be wiped out. Despite this, in the show Sara and her girlfriend Charlie somehow miraculously survive the 80-foot tsunami wave.

Seems realistic?! Even for Netflix, this is a bit silly. And people are calling it out. “That tsunami was gonna wreak havoc on the American continent, but the daughter survived it hitting her plain point blank at the highest impact some 60km away,” one person on Reddit said.

Another said: “There’s no way they would’ve survived that. They didn’t even show like receding water. Where did the water go? Tsunamis don’t just hit and then disappear. That plane would’ve been long gone in the ocean.”

On Twitter, someone else said: “I just finished watching La Palma how did those two girls survive that damn plane like what???”. Netflix, please.
