Debutante ball girl finally speaks out and addresses Apple Martin ‘mean girl’ claims
Aliénor Loppin de Montmort was quick to give her side of the story
Nepo baby of Gwenyth Paltrow and Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Apple Martin, has been at the centre of some negative attention after a viral video of her and another young woman at a debutante ball caused havoc online. Aliénor Loppin de Montmort, the girl in question, has defended Apple Martin in a statement she shared with People Magazine.
In the video, Apple seemed to steal Aliénor’s thunder when she walked in front of her getting photos taken. However, Aliénor hit back at critics and told People Apple was the “nicest girl ever.”

Apple went to the legendary Le Bal des Débutantes on Saturday, at the Hotel Shangri-La in Paris. She was one of 20 young women to make their debut at the annual fashion event, which introduced a small group of women aged 16-22 into society. Previous years have featured celebrities such as Lily Collins and Margaret Qualley.
Paris Match posted a video of Apple and Loppin de Montmort on TikTok after the event. Aliénor Loppin de Montmort posed for her photo, and then Apple jokingly stepped in front of her and it seemed to many viewers she was trying to steal her thunder. A lot of people online started calling Apple a “mean girl.” However, Aliénor defended Apple, labelling her as “genuinely the nicest girl ever” who “really doesn’t deserve an ounce of what she’s getting.”
“She was the nicest girl ever towards not only me but all the debs,” Aliénor added.

Aléinor wasn’t the only one with glowing things to say about Apple. A friend of Gwenyth Paltrow told the Daily Mail: “Apple’s more playful and fun and she’s really a total girls’ girl. She would never mean to take the spotlight from anyone, that was not her intention. To characterise her as a mean girl is very untrue. She really had such a wonderful evening and I feel bad that this is even taking away from that because it was such an uplifting evening for her and the other girls.”
At the event, Apple wore a custom-made Valentino gown, which Vogue reported took Valentino Creative Director Alessandro Michele’s atelier over 750 hours to make.
