Where has I’m A Celeb icon Medic Bob gone? The real reason he left the show
How am I only just noticing he’s not there
Remember one of the biggest I’m A Celeb icons, Medic Bob? Me too, but it’s actually been TWO YEARS since he last appeared on I’m A Celeb. So, where did he go and what is he doing now?
Where did Bob go?
Bob McCarron left the show after his huge stint due to scheduling conflicts with other projects. He actually already hosts his own programme where he travels around Australia, as well as working on the German version of I’m A Celeb.
A spokesperson for the ITV reality show said: “Bob will always be a friend to the show. We wish him all the very best and thank him for his hard work.”
A bit about Bob
He had been a medic on I’m A Celebrity since the show started in 2002, and had worked on the show for 20 years before leaving. Medic Bob was always on hand to help with any jungle medical emergencies – which were especially needed during bushtucker Trials.
He’s been involved in memorable I’m A Celeb moments, like removing a cockroach from Fatima Whitbread’s nose in 2011. However, when Coleen Rooney got a cockroach stuck in her ear, it wasn’t Bob who came to the rescue to remove it.
He was however part of the iconic moment when he rushed to help Gillian McKeith when she fainted during a live show in 2010.
Bob was also responsible for handling the snakes, spiders and other creatures for the challenges. Although he’s not a medical doctor, on screen he was often referred to as Dr Bob.
He is a pre-hospital care practitioner and intensive care paramedic with degrees in nursing, para-medicine, pre-hospital medicine, and certificates in other specialised medical areas.

Who replaced Bob?
Bob has been replaced by an unnamed medical expert who will remain off-screen, which makes sense as to why we’ve never noticed him being gone.
What is Bob doing now?
Bob is actually a very in-demand special effects and prosthetic makeup worker on many international films and stage shows.
Some key films in which he has done prosthetic makeup include: The Matrix, Vertical Limit, Queen of the Damned and The Piano. Get that bag, Bob!
He also designed the wild boar and the prosthetic makeup for the 1984 film Razorback.
