16 Days of Activism: Lancaster to hold ‘March for Women’ to demand safer streets for women
A stance against gender-based violence is taking place in Lancaster
Women from around Lancaster will band together and demand safer streets for women by partaking in a march throughout the city centre on the 7th December 2024.
Members of the community will be meeting at 6:30pm at Lancaster Town Hall, prior to beginning the march at 7pm.
The city’s decision to organise this march corresponds with the United Nations’ 16 Days of Activism which takes place with the intent to raise awareness of violence towards women and girls.
Within the last year, there has been a staggering 1.4 million women, aged 16 and over, that have experienced domestic violence in the regions of England and Wales. As a result of this, the women of Lancaster are taking a stand against gender-based violence by taking part in a “March For Women” throughout the city centre. Furthermore, in Lancaster, studies show that females are accounted for around 77 per cent of the victims who have experienced domestic violence.
If you want to take a stance against gender related violence and help to make the streets of Lancaster safe for women, come along on the 7th of December and have your say.
