People have clocked the real reason Dejon said ‘I love you’ on Love Island, and it’s so snaky

Everything is starting to make so much sense

After meeting his girlfriend’s family in Tuesday’s episode of Love Island, Dejon Noel-Williams took the ultimate plunge as he spilt his true feelings for Meg.

I’ve had lunches longer than Dejon and Meg have known each other on Love Island, and yet, the “L bomb” was officially dropped last night when he pulled his girlfriend for a chat on the terrace.

“My heart feels so safe with you. Speaking to my mum today, it was good reassurance to what I already knew,” he said. “The past few days, probably even longer, I’ve had this feeling when I look at you. It’s such a big thing, but honestly, I do love you.”

Meg reciprocated the feelings, telling Dejon, “I love you too”, but not everyone is as convinced as the Love Island 2025 cast members.

Why do people think Dejon said ‘I love you’ on Love Island

During the iconic meet the family segment, Meg’s family said her relationship was “too serious” as they confessed to not seeing the outpouring of love they expected. People think this conversation prompted the love bomb, like Dejon was trying to prove something to people watching at home.

“Something negative happens. Dejon: Let’s go exclusive. Something negative happens. Dejon: Will you be my girlfriend? Something negative happens. Dejon: I love you,” one person wrote.

Someone else said, “Because Dejon was told again, there’s no visual spark, he has to pull out the I love you bag!”

Another person said it was too perfect timing: “Meg and Dejon’s families said they need to see more intimacy and cute s**t, and Dejon throws out the L bomb on the same night, lmfaoooo.”

While Dejon’s feelings might be wholly real, what people are saying on Twitter does match previous complaints from Dejon’s ex-girlfriend, who called him “hot and cold.”

“When you’re there in person, he’s full-on, very affectionate. But when you step back or ask something serious, it’s like he’s not really listening – or he just avoids it completely,” she said.

“There were moments where I thought he was being honest – and maybe he was – but then you realise later, it’s just easier for him to not say how he feels. I said to him once, ‘I’m also very chill, just be honest.’ But he won’t, because then I’m not going to stick around.”

It definitely contributes to the running theory that Dejon is in it to win it. Whether his nefarious plan works out will become clear in just a few days.
