After the backlash, Dejon’s family have spoke out and said Love Island gave them a bad edit

Normally, when Love Island brings in the family of Islanders it’s a time for weeps, wails and positive reflections. But, oh mama. This year it’s been fireworks. With all the drama in Love Island this year and the complete divide, with the public knowing firmly who they like and don’t like all eyes were on family members to hold various people responsible. One of the people who did NOT get held accountable by his family was Dejon, and his loved ones saw a lot of backlash on social media for what people deemed an “enabling” attitude to his methods in the Love Island villa. Now the family of Dejon have spoken out in the wake of that backlash, accusing Love Island of giving them a bad edit. Wild.

In the clips we saw on the show, Dejon’s mum was telling him to stop apologising to Yasmin – which he was widely criticised for after he rudely dismissed her because he was eating pasta when she wanted to talk to him about a manner that had upset her from what he was doing in the kissing challenge. She also “warned” him that other Islanders are “not his friends”.

She got dragged on Twitter / X for the moment she told the other Islanders before leaving to stop saying horrible things because “they have loved ones watching.”

Dejon’s sister on TikTok clapped back, saying “Believe me or don’t believe me I don’t care, I’m gonna say my peace. Me and my brother had a conversation for 30 minutes and they showed 30 seconds of that conversation. Me and my mum went in on him, I grilled him, mum grilled him. They didn’t show a single second. I just think it’s crazy what they actually choose to put in the show and what they choose to take out.

“I told him the way he handles situations he could do it in better ways sometimes. I said all these things and more, and said there’s a lot of things you need to change when you come out the villa. Mum was grilling him too saying he should have apologised to Billykiss too.

“We spoke about so many things in that conversation and they showed 10 seconds of it. Believe what you wanna believe, if you want to sit there and say I’m enabling him then go ahead.”
