This is why you can’t escape blue bracelets on your TikTok FYP, and here’s what they mean
It’s a sign of solidarity
If you’ve been on TikTok this week, you’ve probably seen everyone talking about blue bracelets.
The trend has taken over the US this month, with people buying or making similar blue beaded bracelets – but why are they doing it?
Here’s everything you need to know about the viral movement.
Here’s why people are wearing blue bracelets
Wearing a blue bracelet shows that you are a Democrat who voted for Kamala Harris in the US presidential election.
The trend comes after Donald Trump won the election on 5 November. He will become President on 20 January 2025.
It’s a sign of solidarity among people with the same political views, showing they will continue to support Kamala and what she stands for.
People are using the bracelet to show others they are inclusive and believe in Democratic policies such as LGBTQ+ rights and abortion.
@witchywoosel To clear up some obvious confusion. I made this bracelet as a signal to all women who fought and lost on election day. It was never meant to be racially targeted or exclusive. However, somewhere along the line someone, who isnt me, added the racial sentiment and now I’m paying for it. It was always intended to be simple gesture made with the goal of finding a soothing way of having a hard talk with my kids. Then sharing it as a form of solidarity with all women who fought and continue to fight. #bluefriendshipbracelet #women #womenempowerment #blue #womenshealth #womensupportingwomen #womensright #wewontgoback #fyp

@estelle.crystals The Blue Bracelet Movement is an amazing way to let others around know that they are safe with you without having to speak a single word. We are all in this together. 💙 As a mixed woman & mom this week has truly been weighing really heavy on my heart. I have grieved the fact that my rights will not be restored. I have grieved the fact that I might miss out on the chance of having more children because I’m deathly afraid of the possible consequences from any complications. I have grieved the fact that so many people feel unsafe. No one should have to feel that way. 🥺 These bracelets are available in my 🔗 if you’d like to participate in this movement 💙 #estellecrystals✨🤩 #bluebracelet #bluebracelets #bluebraceletmovement
