The Russell Group unis the stars of Love Island would attend, based on pure vibes
Joey Essex was an exceptionally hard decision
From Love Island villa to Redbrick university, the 2024 stars of our favourite reality show give off some major uni city vibes. Although where they studied isn’t something you’d know them for, the Love Island stars of this year can be sorted into universities based on their pure energy alone. From models to businesswomen, we have all sorts of talent in the villa this year. Here’s a rundown of where our favourites would have attended if it were up to us:
Sean – Nottingham
This was probably the easiest decision on the list. Maybe he firmed Nottingham Trent as his first choice, or (and more likely) he applied on a whim through clearing after being rejected from uni of Notts. He would have definitely flopped a business studies degree but still claimed he had “big things cooking”. If by big things you mean a 1-star reviewed business on TrustPilot, I have some bad news for you Sean.
Matilda – Exeter
Matilda is just *that girl*, and you only give off those vibes as an Exeter student. I could see her waking up, putting on a matching Gymshark set and going to get an iced oat latte from Pret.
Joey – Southampton
This was a particularly challenging one to think of, but I decided to choose the Russell Group that everybody forgets is a Russell Group. No idea why. But hey, he still ended up as a millionaire so who’s the real winner?
Jessy – Bath

As an actual Bath Spa graduate, it’s no surprise Jessy gives off major Bath vibes. I know it’s not technically a Russell Group but it’s just so her. At uni, she studied Business and Management. She was a cheerleader, netballer and also ran the cheer social media pages (what a productive queen). She actually wrote her university dissertation on social media and influencer marketing, which gives her that rightful Love Island 2024 influencer crown. Hats off to you girl!
Ayo – UCL
Ayo, who now works as a footballer and model, gives major London vibes. Nobody with a career that cool can be anywhere else. I can see him studying either something sporty or creative, and he defo partied his uni nights away.
Jessica – Birmingham

Although she actually studied at Leicester, Jess gives off that same big city vibe that Ayo does, although maybe a bit more northern than London. She now works as a fashion stylist, so I could bet her degree was something really fun.
Joshua – Queen Mary

Josh is following in Ayo’s footsteps as a footballer and model, and the two of them just belong in the coolest city in the world. Don’t they both just give “I’ve mastered all of the tube lines” in the best way?
Mimii – Liverpool
Mimii is just the most fun girl ever, so her vibes couldn’t be more Liverpudlian if she tried. I can see her being the type that goes out all night but is also up for her 8:30 lecture. She is a total girls’ girl and would definitely wait with you outside the club while your Uber arrives.
Ciaran – Cardiff
Ciaran has done pretty well for himself, not only as a rugby player, but as a surveyor. He definitely aimed as high as there is to go in Wales and went to Cardiff, and definitely had the best time partying. Good thing he got all of those party years out of him and wants to settle down now, isn’t it?
Nicole – Bristol

Let’s be real, it’s going to be difficult to get Nicole too far from Wales. You can take the girl out of the valleys, but you’d raise hell trying to take the valleys out of the girl. She is definitely the student that either comes home every weekend or commutes.
She’s also definitely studying something humanities based like English or Liberal Arts.
Reuben – Warwick

Reuben, as sweet as he is, has the most boring job title I’ve ever heard: Account assistant. I’m sure he’s doing great but he definitely went somewhere quiet and academic like Warwick. Good on him I guess?
Grace – Manchester

Grace definitely gives me big city vibes, the type of girl that you are lowkey frightened of but can respect. She actually studied in Liverpool at John Moores, so my prediction wasn’t far off. Either way, I wouldn’t want to accidentally spill my drink over her on a night out.
