All the Love Island 2024 cast members’ desperate attempts at fame before the villa
Loads of them have been on reality TV before
Shock horror! The cast of Love Island 2024 have had many attempts at fame before they were in the famous villa. Yep, it turns out this bunch have really tried to get noticed for years before the show – you have to respect the grind.
A few of the Islanders have been on TV before, or have had YouTube fame, or have even planned being an Islander years in advance. Some people are destined to become famous at some point in their lives, and the Islanders have made sure they’re one of those people.
Here are all the attempts at fame the Love Island 2024 cast made, before their big villa breakthrough.
Casa Amor bombshell Emma was previously on Shipwrecked
Love Island wasn’t Emma Milton’s first time on TV, as back in 2019 she was a contestant on E4’s Shipwrecked: Battle of the Islands. On the show cast members have to live on a remote island for three months, but much like Love Island, she didn’t last very long at all and was booted from the show.
Ahead of Love Island 2024, Harriett said her biggest claim to fame is being an ‘it’ girl in Brighton
Ahead of the show, when asked her claim to fame, Harriett said she’s an “it” girl where she’s from. Yes real words, she said about herself. She said: “Being a bit of an IT girl in Brighton, I’ve done personal shopping for the rapper ArrDee and one of my best friends is Saffron Barker the YouTuber.” She’s honestly so iconic it hurts.

Harriett has featured in a few of Saffron’s YouTube clips, including one where she does a question session with a bunch of friends, and another one where Saffron challenged herself to living in her car for 24-hours and went to visit Harriett along the way. Harriett looked completely different at the time, btw.
Jessy has clearly always wanted to be on Love Island, and made a TikTok about being an Islander a whole YEAR ago

It turns out Love Island 2024 bombshell Jessy Potts has been planning her moment in the spotlight for over a year. She had a pretty good idea what she was going to be like in the villa, as she made a TikTok detailing the whole thing. Manifesting level: 100.
In the clip from last year, Jessy can be seen trying on a whole bunch of outfits, posing in “what I’d wear if I went on Love Island.” And now she’s in the villa it’s scarily accurate how well she’d planned what she would wear as an Islander.
Jessy planned outfits such as what she would wear in her casting picture, what she would wear to a party, a date outside the villa, pool day and a recoupling. She clearly thinks she’s going far, because she also planned her finale dress.
Grace was on Celebs Go Dating and knew Joey Essex back in 2017!!!!
@brie3eexo crazyyyy #loveisland #gracejackson #joeyessez #loveislanddrama #graceandjoey
Despite them saying they only had brief history when they dated before the show, Joey and Grace actually met all the way back in 2017. Footage has emerged of Grace appearing as one of the public daters on the second series of Celebs Go Dating, and who was one of the celebs on the show back then? Joey Essex!
The pair chatted at a mixer, but when she appeared on the show Grace was actually getting to Perri Kiely from Diversity.
Before Love Island Harriett claimed she had a Premiership footballer brother, but she doesn’t
Before the show started, a video circulated of Harriett with her brother, and it was claimed she was defending him during an “attack” with a group of women. Harriett was filmed telling another girl “he’s a Premier League football player, please leave him alone” but in short, he isn’t.
Harriett’s brother is called Henry Blackmore, and he plays for Peacehaven and Telscombe Football Club, and has previously played for Whitehawk FC. The club is currently part of the Southern Combination Premier Division – not the actual Premier League. A bit of a white lie!
Casa Amor boy Joel was on Below Deck!
Casa Amor Islander Joel Kirby, who you’ve probably forgotten already, was on Below Deck Mediterranean. He appeared on season nine of the reality show, and was joined by a group of friends as they sailed around Greece.
He shared a little behind the scenes look at his time on the show on Instagram, captioning the post: “My Below Deck S9 Mediterranean Dump!! Scroll to the last one to see what happens when I have too many spicy margaritas.” He can be seen in the post appearing to dive into the sea off the boat in the dead of night, apparently after a few drinks.
Harriett has been approached for loads of other TV shows
Our girl Harriett has been really carrying Love Island 2024 on her back, so I’m really not at all surprised that Love Island wasn’t the first reality show to want her. In an interview where she and Ronnie confirmed they were scouted for the villa, Harriett also shared that she’s pretty in demand.
Speaking with Closer, Harriett was asked if she had been asked to do any other shows that aren’t Love Island, to which she said “quite a few actually”. She explained she gets “quite a lot of messages” from MTV shows, so maybe we’ve not seen the last of her on our screens!
