It’s official: These are the best Russell Group unis, based entirely on student reviews

A new uni ranking has just been released, and it’s all based on the opinions of students which is always going to be a nice change from rankings decided by old men sitting in a stuffy office who left uni about 40 years ago.

StudentCrowd has just released its “Best UK Universities League Table 2024” all based on student reviews made on its website. According to the ranking, UCAS research shows that “online reviews by students” are the second most important resource for students picking which university they want to go to. And if you love your uni enough to write a review about how much you love it? You can’t really dispute it, can you? Could never be me but thankful for you lot doing the lord’s work.

StudentCrowd is also the only uni review platform to require a verified ac.uk uni email address so you know that all the ratings are legit.

Of the 24 Russell Group unis, 14 made it into the top 20 of the ranking. But the top uni on the ranking is actually not a Russell Group and is Ulster University in Northern Ireland with a score of 4.49 out of five. This is closely followed by the top-rated Russell Group uni, Sheffield and then Birmingham in the number three spot overall.

The ranking only ranks 20 unis and therefore the bottom overall is Loughborough and the lowest ranking Russell Group is Newcastle, with a score of 4.27 out of five overall.

So these are the Russell Group unis that students have ranked the highest in StudentCrowd’s new uni ranking 2024:
