Dani Dyer to Antigoni: A rundown of Love Island’s biggest nepo babies of all time
Jack Keating now has his very own nepo baby x
ITV’s Love Island is home to some of Britain’s finest rich parents. Otherwise known as: The Love Island nepotism babies. Gone are the days of Olivia the sales exec and Calum the builder from Manchester – we’re now stuck with the daughters of chain restaurants and a son to Boyzone’s lead singer.
So welcome to the Love Island nepo baby league table, it’s long.
Summer Botwe, season eight
Summer made a name for herself on Love Island last summer but she isn’t the only famous person in her family. Her dad is garage MC and DJ, MC CKP. He has won several big awards for his contribution to the garage scene including coming fifth place in the Chicago Music Charts.
Antigoni Buxton, season eight
Antigoni is destined for stardom, let’s not beat around the bush. Her personality was made to be in the limelight given how forward she is with her musical talents.
For the boys reading, if Antigoni is “a bit of you”, I’d graft extra hard trying to pull her, cause you might just score yourself a 10 out of 10, professionally cooked plate of scran. That’s right, Antigoni’s mum is a celebrity chef. Tonia is a television presenter, makes regular guest appearances on Sunday Brunch, and cooks Greek food on the discovery channel.
Not only that but her mum, Tonia Buxton, is the owner of restaurant chain The Real Greek – what a slay.
Liam Llewellyn, season eight
Most Read
Liam chose to leave the villa last summer after six days. He returned home to his mum and dad, the latter being international rugby player David Llewellyn who played in the 1999 World Cup for Wales.
Now, although David may be one of the lesser known sporting stars within this guide, he for sure would have afforded Liam some benefits. Especially as Liam himself is a Masters Strength and Conditioning graduate-the aligning “sporty boy vibes” would have definitely made for some congruent marketing and contestant branding.
Sophie Piper, season six
Sophie Piper was in winter Love Island back in season six and she’s also sister to Rochelle Humes. In recent years Rochelle has become better known for various TV presenting gigs including This Morning, Ninja Warrior, The Hit List and she’s got a family with JLS star, Marvin Humes.
Belle Hassan, season five
Belle Hassan is partially remembered for being the girl to rip into Anton but she’s also known for being the daughter of Tamer Hassan who appeared in Game of Thrones and The Football Factory.
It may surprise you to know Belle admitted that her dad did in fact actually get her on the show. Damn. The proof really is in the pudding. We appreciate the honesty though. Awareness of your privilege is key.
Tommy Fury, season five
New father and recent winner of a certain, frankly over-glorified and underwhelming boxing match, Tommy Fury, is the younger brother of the world renowned boxer, Tyson Fury.
I’m pretty sure the Tyson Fury name drops were quite few and far between; so bravo for that. In terms of his nepo benefits, yes his brother is an international household name. But in an entirely separate industry, with no seeming parallels to the show? Of course, “my brother’s one of the biggest international boxers” was always going to open doors, and draw in a large male audience which I’m sure the producers would not be complaining about.
Jack Keating, season eight
Jack lasted five days in the villa but he’s still one of the biggest nepo babies to appear on the show. His dad is Ronan Keating, a household name adored by the masses. Ronan is a member of the UK’s biggest boy bands ever, no, not One Direction – Boyzone.
News recently broke reporting Jack has just had his own child so congrats! Another Love Island nepo baby to add to the web.
Claudia Fogharty, season nine
Claudia was in this season of Love Island and is the daughter of Carl Fogharty. MBE, winner of 2014’s I’m A Celeb and a former motorcycle racer. Let’s not dismiss the fact that as a woman applying for the show, having a parental figure in a field mainly of interest to men, would garner a whole host of additional intrigue. Never-mind his casual £39 million fortune and the blessings that undoubtedly affords.
Dani Dyer, season four
If a household name could manifest as one person, I think it would have to be Danny Dyer. He appeared on The Business, The Football Factory, Eastenders and he’s just dropped his own Netflix game show. Oh and I recently found out, he’s actually a direct descendant of both William the Conqueror and King Edward III? Sorry what? This was definitely not common knowledge during Dani’s stint on the show-which would have made her arrival even more spectacular. It certainly also made for good marketing that she literally had the matching name with the already infamous one.
With a father who’s TV, and literal royalty, it should come as no surprise that season 4 Dani claims a nepo baby slot.
Gemma Owen, season eight
Gemma Owen wipes the entire competition, and races into first place as Love Island’s biggest and baddest nepo baby. Although, this is quite literally daddy perks in action so, fair play to her and staying on brand.
This sporting icon trumps all others mentioned in this list, mainly because the country is utterly enamoured with the sport. Potentially unlike some of the other parents mentioned, I don’t think there’s a soul in Britain whose ears wouldn’t prick at his name-and who’s therefore didn’t prick upon hearing his daughter’s heading into the villa.
If one thing’s for sure, Gemma Owen was certainly the most high-profile case to ever grace the show-with arguably the most high-profile family of all Love Island families behind her. So I crown her, the ultimate Love Island nepo baby.
