It was the days of scrolling through Tumblr, wishing One Direction would turn up at your door and watching Pretty Little Liars obsessively. God I’m cringing about it now. I can remember spending hours on Tumblr and WeHeartIt sharing images of a girl in a pink dress with converse and a messy bun accompanied by the quote “wishing you had pretty eyes.”

I’d pretty much forgotten about this tragic sad time in my youth until Twitter user @itskeyon unlocked the memory. They retweeted an image from the account of Victoria’s Secret Angels, which was captioned: “Boys, if you don’t look like Calvin Klein models, don’t expect us to look like Victoria’s Secret angels.” Profound advice.

JustGirlyThings is full of plenty of other ‘inspiring’ quotes. A quick scroll through the JustGirlyThings Twitter account is like stepping into a time capsule to the early 2010s and it hasn’t been updated since 2013. But the wise words are still there, and I was reminded of how I really believed and related to the quotes such as “happy is the best thing someone can be”.
