A Cornellian has been accused of calling a Black student a “nigger” online.
Detrick Manning, a sophomore at Whittier College in California, tweeted about speaking on a Tinder group chat, where an account in the name of Kristina Thoren posted: “NIGGERS.”
He said: “Yesterday on Tinder, a student at Cornell called me a nigger. This blatant display of racism left me shaken. I demand that CU take action.”

Detrick added in a Facebook post: “Today I was on Tinder Social in a group with a few of my friends. In my biography among other things I have ‘If you voted for Trump please swipe left.’
“Today, when we matched with a group and I was met with this response. I did nothing to prompt this. I didn’t react to the first five replies, but the last one made my entire body numb.
“I have never met this woman. I have done nothing to her, but yet she thought that it was OK to call me a nigger.”
It is unclear at this point whether the person who posted from Kristina Thoren’s account was Thoren herself – we have contacted her to clarify what happened.
