The Bournemouth Tab is looking for writers and we want YOU

You don’t need any experience at all

Are you an aspiring journalist? A hilarious writer? A jokes meme lord or a film-maker? If you are, The Bournemouth Tab wants you to join our team.

The Bournemouth Tab is written by Bournemouth students, for Bournemouth students. Our open meeting is on Saturday October 5th at 12pm on the fifth floor of the SUBU building. Anyone is welcome to turn up, and more details can be found here.

If you're unsure about what The Tab is, or how to get involved, you'll find all the information below:

What is The Tab?

The Tab is a student news site with over six million monthly readers. As a student writer, your stories will be shared on The Bournemouth Tab Facebook page, to a readership of 3,842 Bournemouth students – the best are shared across all of our pages, and can reach readers all over the country.

The Bournemouth Tab writes and publishes a mix of news, gossip and entertainment stories. Some of our past stories include Winton student house catches fire with nine sleeping inside and A couple have been caught having sex outside Bournemouth University campuses.

Hundreds of stories published originally on The Tab have made national news, we exposed the Warwick boys who made rape jokes in their group chat, the Coventry dodgeball team who wore anti-semetic slogans on their white t-shirt social, and the Cambridge student who set fire to a £20 note in front of a homeless man.

Why should I write for The Tab and not somewhere else?

Writing for The Bournemouth Tab, your stories will reach thousands of student readers, and while your stories won’t be printed, you’ll get a much better understanding of how modern news media actually works.

The team works with an Assistant Editor based at Tab HQ in London. They provide training in the basics of reporting, and quality advice on how to make your writing stand out you won’t get anywhere else.

Tab alumni frequently go on to work for famous publications all over the world, including VICE, The Times, and Vogue. Just this year, former Tab student writers started jobs at The Telegraph, The Sun, and Cosmopolitan.

How can I get involved?

Some of our best include We went on a trip to every Spoons to find out which is the best in Bournemouth, and I left the club to get a Subway, but ended up spending £1,100 in a strip club.

We’re also looking for people to run our Instagram! If you consider yourself a meme connoisseur, or you want to try making fun original video, we’d love to have you.
