Verdict’s in: Here’s the TV show people actually think has the worst ending of all time
Shockingly, it isn’t Game of Thrones
There is nothing worse than when you’ve dedicated your silly little life, or perhaps at least some silly little hours, to a TV show only for it to all end in the worst way possible. It’s actually even more devastating when the show has been for the most part truly acclaimed and adored, and then flops it all at the lost hurdle. We’ve all got our main culprit show we will never forgive this, but new data has emerged of what we all truly deem the worst tv show ending of all time – and it’s actually not the names of the two you’d expect. Namely, How I Met Your Mother and Game of Thrones. The top spot was claimed by someone else.
In new data released by Bo McCready and Tableau Public, the breakdown of what people have rated the most abysmally in terms of worst tv show ending of all time analyses data from IMDb. It runs down through shows that have at least 15 episodes, 40,000 ratings and an average episode rating of over 7.0.
So what’s at the top? What is the actual worst?
The top 10 stinkers
Just missing out on the top 10 spot are two contenders that I would first have in mind when thinking of the worst tv show ending of all time. True Blood and How I Met Your Mother are in at 11 and 12. Honestly thought they’d be in the top five, but we move. Mythbusters is at 10, and then the Netflix original series mystery Bloodline in at nine. One of those shows I watched the pilot of and then never dabbled in again.
Number eight is Power, Ragnarok at seven and the messy, Charlie Sheen impacted conclusion of Two and a Half Men at six.
The top five
Top five time. In at fifth on the new data is Dexter, which is just about to get a prequel show with Sarah Michelle Gellar on board. Fourth comes Killing Eve – one of the biggest falls from graces in TV ever, in my opinion. The acclaimed first few seasons concluded with a hated finale scoring only 3.8 on IMDb.
In third is the much loathed Game of Thrones, which bungled its final season with a rushed and chaotic energy and completely ruined all its characters in the despised finale. In second worst is The Promised Neverland, an anime series. But what is the worst TV show ending of all time?
House of Cards
With an utterly stinking score of 2.8 for its finale, House of Cards is deemed the worst ending of a relatively popular and acclaimed TV show of all time. The show had a proper fall from grace after the scandal surrounding Kevin Spacey being accused of sexual assault.
The show is widely panned for its messy ending which results in stabbing and betrayal, with the acclaim of the early seasons thrown away as it was dragged for “never having anything interesting to say.” Yikes.
