Billie Piper’s character spoils the big Kaos twist in the first five minutes and we’re all stupid

Kaos is the wild new Netflix show that reimagines Greek god mythology in an edgy new way, and since it dropped on Friday the show has gone straight into the top 10. The show has divided critics but everyone’s intrigued to see how we’re getting Greek gods bumping into each other in supermarkets. And if you can’t be arsed finding out why or even watching the show, it turns out Billie Piper and her character ruins Kaos and its twist with foreshadowing literally in the first five minutes. And we’re dumb for not clocking it.

In the first five minutes of Kaos, a twist comes as Billie Piper playing Cassandra bumps into Eurydice at the supermarket cereal aisle. The two have a conversation and then Eurydice diffuses Cassandra getting apprehended for shoplifting. Cassandra then says “Everyone steals. Even the gods. Especially the gods. They’re stealing our souls.” And the whole shtick of Cassandra is that nobody believes her. This all links back to Greek mythology.

In Greek mythology, Cassandra was granted the gift of prophecy by Apollo. However, when she didn’t want to pursue anything romantically with him he put a curse on her that despite the fact her prophecies were accurate, nobody would believe them. This came to devastating effect when she prophecised the sacking of the city with the whole Trojan horse fiasco and nobody believed her. Look how that worked out!

Despite the fact that Hades claims that the Frame in the Underworld reincarnates and uses souls for renewal – which is why people on Earth follow it willingly – Cassandra is right in the fact that the gods are actually stealing human souls for their water supply and using it to regenerate themselves. Gross. This takes the whole season to work out, but Cassandra was right there and Billie Piper was giving us hints all along!
