Weapons 2 might actually be happening, as a prequel focussed on this iconic character
I need it NOW
As soon as the Weapons credits had even barely finished rolling, you know damn well everyone was hungry for the possibility of a sequel to the Zach Cregger horror that’s taken over the world right now. But does Weapons need a Weapons 2? Should we have this insatiable desire for sequels on films that were never planned to have one? I guess it doesn’t really matter, because if a film is mega successful and makes a lot of money for a studio then you can rest assured the studio will definitely want to cash in on that again – whether they should or not is a different matter. Thankfully, Weapons has one major thing absolutely ripe for the taking when it comes to a second film. It’s not a sequel, but a prequel – because there’s one major character whose backstory has everyone obsessed and Weapons never explored it – so Weapons 2 could allegedly be delving into that.
Weapons 2 prequel is allegedly already in early talks
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Zach Cregger has already been approached for early conversations about Weapons 2 – which would be a prequel centred on the lore of Aunt Gladys. There are no timelines in place right now for it and it’s extremely early days. Cregger first is releasing his reboot of the Resident Evil franchise – which is probably the world’s best bet at that franchise actually finally getting good.

As for the rumours on the prequel so far, it’s apparent that the mysterious Aunt Gladys is obviously the breakout star of the film. All the memes about her say it all really. When you watch Weapons, you’ll see that all the characters get their own title card chapter which reveals what happened to them from their perspective and the only character who doesn’t is Gladys.
Cregger has since confirmed there was originally a longer chapter for Gladys explaining her backstory and lore, but he got rid of it as he felt it made her less intriguing and scary. If the prequel plans for a Weapons 2 go ahead, this will actually be fleshed out into a full film.
