Kevin Hart has clapped back at Katt William's dubbing him an industry plant

Katt Williams called Kevin Hart an industry plant and he’s clapped back

Steve Harvey also got a pasting

Kevin Hart isn’t here for being called an industry plant by Katt Williams, who on a podcast accused him of being handed his career before he got to Hollywood.

The 44-year-old comedian fired back at Katt’s assertion that “no one” had any interest in him when he was starting out on the LA comedy scene, dubbing the comments on fellow comic Shannon Sharpe’s ‘Club Shay Shay’ YouTube show – where he didn’t pull any punches about the wider industry, with particular venom for the Black-centric comics – as “honestly sad”.

“Gotta get that anger up outcha champ….It’s honestly sad,” Kevin posted on X, before plugging his new movie, adding: “In the meantime…. Please enjoy MY MOVIE TRAILER to my next film “LIFT” which will be dropping on @netflixin 8 days!!!!

“There is a moment in the trailer where @gugumbatharaw says ‘They Really Love You’ ….I now know she’s talking about ‘Katt.’”

Delivering his usual outspoken lark, a reputation forged on comedy specials like The Pimp Chronicles, Katt mused about how Kevin’s success was strange to him, which includes a string of Netflix comedy specials, starring roles in blockbusters like the Jumanji movies and endorsement deals with big brands like Fabletics and Chase.

Kevin Hart was just one of few people named by Katt Williams in this explosive interview

“In 15 years in Hollywood, no one in Hollywood has a memory of going to a sold-out Kevin Hart show, there being a line for him, ever getting a standing ovation at any comedy club,” the 52-year-old funny man said on the recording.

He added: “He already had his deals when he got here. Have we heard of a comedian that came to L.A., and in his first year in L.A., he had his own sitcom on network television and had his own film called Soul Plane that he was leading? No […] What do you think a plant is?”

You could accuse Katt of suffering from a bad case of sour grapes. See, according to Katt himself, for a few years “every single movie that Kevin Hart did” had graced his inbox, too. However, he had turned many, if not all, of them down. Often, he would want to tweak some aspects of characters, make them more him and so on. One can assume these fell on deaf ears as Kevin is now worth a reported $450 million and Katt just $2 million.

While he had the opportunity, he also attempted to correct the record about the trio of “low-brow comedians”  Cedric the Entertainer, Rickey Smiley and the much-memed Steve Harvey, who had previously had a lot to say about them.

Katt told Shannon: “For 30 years, they’re a group. These aren’t three random guys. All of these dudes are co-entwined, and they share secrets, and this is the age of truth.”

He also accused Cedric of stealing his “best joke” back in the 90s from his BET comedy show, ComicView.

“This is not just a random joke. This is my very best joke, and it’s my last joke, and it’s my closing joke,” Katt said.

He also dubbed his four comedy specials as “so bad.”

No one but Kevin has bothered to respond to Katt, and we don’t know if they are operating a ‘no comment’ strategy, but either way, grab the popcorn!
