Grab your tinsel because these are the most festive Gilmore Girls episodes of all time

So Gilmore Girls is probably best known for being the ultimate cosy girl autumn TV show. Well, that and a crap ton of coffee. But it’s also a show kinda obsessed with Christmas. I mean, Lorelai literally can smell when snow is coming.

You might have forced yourself to sit through Elf or Home Alone for the billionth time this year in an attempt to make yourself feel festive even though they bore you half to death now so what about just watching the most Christanssy episodes of one of your comfort TV shows?

Here are the most festive Gilmore Girls episodes of all time:

8. ‘Just Like Gwen and Gavin’ – Season six,  episode 12

Season six episode 12 is one of Gilmore Girls’ classic winter carnival episodes. In this one, Lorelai has a booth at the carnival where her dog Paul Anka is telling fortunes. Cute. But what makes this the worst Christmassy episode is that it’s also the episode where Lorelai finally finds out about Luke’s long-lost daughter April who he’s been keeping a secret for two months. It’s possibly the worst plotline in the entire show and brings the festive vibes down massively.

7. ‘Santa’s Secret Stuff’ – Season seven, episode 11

This episode is the fake Christmas that Rory and Lorelai do when she gets back from spending actual Christmas with Logan in London. But fake it genuinely is. The Christmas vibes are cute in the episode but you just can’t help at cringe at the most ingenuine and fake happiness between Lorelai and Christopher now they’re married.

6. ‘In the Clamor and the Clangor’ – Season four, episode 11

This episode is definitely more wintry than Christmassy but it gets bonus points for the distinct lack of Christopher or April storylines. This episode shows Rory at Yale while Lorelai and Luke conspire to try and stop the church bells from ringing so often.

5. Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life – ‘Winter’

You either love the spinoff A Year in the Life or you despise it. But you can’t deny it brought back all the perfect wintry and festive vibes that we were missing after the show ended. The snowy walk around Stars Hollow at the start of the episode makes my heart so inexplicably happy.

4. ‘That’ll Do, Pig’ – Season three, episode 10

“That’ll Do Pig” is another episode set at Stars Hollow’s famous winter carnival. But this one has bonus points because it features the classic Rory, Dean and Jess love triangle. After Jess says no to going to the carnival with Rory, she goes with Dean. But then Jess gets jealous and ends up tagging along after all.

3. ‘Forgiveness and Stuff’ – Season one, episode 10

So in “Forgiveness and Stuff”, Lorelai can’t get away from the inn in time to get to her parents for their annual Christmas dinner so Emily suggests she skips it all together. She then spends it at Luke’s who makes her a burger shaped like Father Christmas. But then Richard has a heart attack and they all end up rushing to the hospital anyway.

2. ‘Women of Questionable Morals’ – Season five, episode 11

In season five episode 11 lives were changed after Luke literally makes an ice rink for Lorelai. She falls out of love with snow (a big deal considering she literally can smell when it’s coming) after it causes chaos at the inn but he builds an ice rink outside her house to make her love it again. Stop it.

Richard and Emily also take in a stray dog and it’s just cute wholesome vibes all round.

1. ‘The Bracebridge Dinner’ – Season two, episode 10

The Bracebridge Dinner episode is possibly one of the best episodes in the entire show, not just the best Christmas episode. Lorelai and Sookie plan a massive Christmas Dinner at the inn but then the Bracebridge party cancels so they just end up inviting the entire Stars Hollow population for the Christmas dinner and it’s just amazing vibes.
