Every The Summer I Turned Pretty easter egg that proves Belly has always been team Conrad

The Summer I Turned Pretty season two ended in a scene that no one was too overly keen on, unless you are team Jeremiah of course. Season two saw the Fisher and Conklin family join forces to try and save the Cousins Beach house after their Aunt Julia decided to put it up for sale following Susannah’s death.

Unfortunately, for some, the season ended with Belly and Jeremiah in the beginning stages of their relationship, with Conrad seemingly left at the back of their minds.

While it may seem that Belly and Jeremiah are end game, there have been several easter eggs throughout The Summer I Turned Pretty season two suggesting that it has always been and always will be Conrad, no matter what.

So while you’re not-so patiently waiting for season three of The Summer I Turned Pretty, here’s a look at all the easter eggs in season two that made it so obvious that Belly and Conrad are end game.

Taylor Swift songs always play during Belly and Conrad scenes

It’s no secret that Jenny Han is a Swiftie and there is no better way to portray the love story between Belly and Conrad than through Taylor Swift songs.

It’s clear sparks were flying between the two when we’re first introduced to Belly and Conrad in season one. When Belly arrives to the Cousins Beach house for the first time, Lover is playing.

In almost every scene between Conrad and Belly, a Taylor Swift song is playing, which many people think cements their love story.

The lighting during the motel scene

During the final episode in season two, viewers see Conrad, Belly and Jeremiah spend the night at a motel after driving in a rain storm.

As Belly takes the bed, Conrad and Jeremiah sleep on either side on the floor and lighting is a foreshadowing like no other. Viewers see Belly and Conrad with orange lighting across their faces while Jeremiah’s is blue, suggesting it’s always been Belly and Conrad.

A big foreshadowing moment of Belly and Conrad’s relationship is in a flashback scene with Susannah. Belly and Laurel go to visit Susannah when she is sick and as they arrive, she is writing letters to Conrad and Jeremiah.

As Laurel helps her put them away, the letters seem to get muddled up, which is a huge moment in the original novels.

Possible spoilers for season three ahead!

At the end of the third book, the letters for Jeremiah and Conrad get switched so Jeremiah reads a letter meant for Conrad and vice versa.

In Conrad’s letter, Susannah says she only ever got to see him in love once and that was with Belly. At that point, Jeremiah tells Belly that he will marry if if she can look him in the eye and say she doesn’t love Conrad.

At the end of season two, Conrad is unpacking the Cousins Beach house and places a glass unicorn in Belly’s room, which has major significance for how season three is going to play out.

If you’ve read the books, you’ll know the glass unicorn was a birthday film gift to Belly from Conrad. Belly kept the unicorn after its horn broke off and its inclusion in the series finale was no mistake.

“I tried every opportunity to to add in little details from the books that the eagle-eyed viewers would recognise,” Jenny Han told BuzzFeed.

“There’s a glass unicorn, which is like a figurine from the books. Unless you were really looking hard, you wouldn’t be able to notice, but that was important to me that we had one in the room.”

There is hope for Belly and Conrad yet!
