From laptop stickers to music: Every single easter egg in Black Mirror season six on Netflix

There are so many!

Black Mirror is one of those shows where everything is done on purpose, and season six was filled with easter eggs and references to previous and upcoming episodes for us to keep our eyes peeled for.

Season six has five episodes in total, and they all had at least one subtle nod to the Black Mirror universe – be it a obvious logo or spoken mention, or subtle hints in the music or newspaper articles that flash up on screen.

Here is a rundown of all the easter eggs you may or may not have spotted during season six of Black Mirror on Netflix.

Joan is Awful

There were a bunch of easter eggs and references in Black Mirror season six episode one, Joan is Awful. Loads appeared as Joan and her fiancé Krish first sat down to scroll through Streamberry. The Callow Years was a show on the screen (Callow being the Prime Minister in The National Anthem), Sea of Tranquility was another show, which is often referenced in Black Mirror, Finding Ritman (from Bandersnatch), Junipero Rising (a nod to San Junipero), Space Fleet (USS Callister), Hot Shot (the show in Fifteen Million Merits), Mad Mind (Bandersnatch) were all there, and there was also the documentary about Loch Henry, from season six episode two.

Joan’s coworker Sandy also gets a notification on her phone from “Smithereen”, the website in Smithereens. Huge Black Mirror fans will have noticed the music playing in the bar when Joan met up with her ex Mac is Anyone Who Knows What Love Is (Will Understand) by Irma Thomas – which has featured in loads of Black Mirror episodes over the years.

In a later scene, Mac is scrolling through his Smithereen feed (another reference) and scrolls past a post from Lacie Pound, the character in Nose Dive, and when Joan is reading a newspaper there’s a reference to the memory device from The Entire History of You.

In Joan is Awful, Joan seeks legal advice about what’s happening to her, from a firm called Skillane Legal – a reference to Victoria Skillane, the character from White Bear.

Loch Henry

There are two pretty obvious easter eggs in Black Mirror season six episode two, so let’s start with them. Firstly, right at the end of the episode they attend the BAFTAs and one of the shows they go up against is called Inside Project Junipero – as in San Junipero. Davis’ laptop is also covered in stickers, which reference The Waldo Moment, Arkangel and White Bear.

Black Mirror universe politicians also get a shoutout – there’s a newspaper article featured which mentions “Smart In Trouble”, Michael Smart from later episode Demon 79, and there’s a poster in the production company office where Davis and Pia visit where a poster for The Callow Years is up – again, referencing The National Anthem. Callow gets another mention on the news, later in Loch Henry.

Beyond the Sea

There is just one nod in the third episode, Beyond the Sea. A White Bear glyph is painted on a wall of David’s house.

Mazey Day

During Mazey Day, Black Mirror was back referring the fictional show Sea of Tranquility as it does so often. When Bo was waiting for her drink at a coffee shop, breaking news about an actor from the show being dead flashes up.

Demon 79

The symbol from White Bear makes two appearances during Demon 79 – it’s on the talisman Nida finds in her work basement, and it’s shown as Michael Smart’s campaign logo.

Nida has visions from the future in Demon 79, and in these visions she sees the robot dogs from season four episode five, Metalhead.
