From Rylan to Amanda Holden: Here’s what the ITV celebs have said about Phillip Schofield

Dr Ranj has had a lot to say

Everyone and their mum has been talking about Phillip Schofield in recent weeks but the people we care about most listening to are those who knew him and worked with him. We all know Eamonn Holmes has had a lot to say about Phillip Schofield, but here’s a rundown of what all the ITV broadcasters have said about him.

Holly Willoughby has released a fair few statements

Holly Willoughby is still on a break following the recent revelations about Phillip Schofield’s affair with a crew member on This Morning. Following reports claiming Holly and Phil weren’t getting along behind the scenes, Phillip released a statement claiming it had been a “tough few weeks” for them both. Holly didn’t reply though and this implied she had been “blindsided” by Phillip Schofield’s statement.

After Schofield stepped down from “This Morning, Holly released a statement which read: “Hi everyone… It’s been over 13 great years presenting This Morning with Phil and I want to take this opportunity to thank him for all of his knowledge, his experience and his humour. The sofa won’t feel the same without him.”

She then issued another statement after Phillip admitted to having a “consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague.” Her statement said: “It’s taken time to process yesterday’s news. When reports of this relationship first surfaced, I asked Phil directly if this was true and was told it was not. It’s been very hurtful to find out that was a lie. Holly.”

Amanda Holden has posted several cryptic photos and messages online

Less than 24 hours after Phillip Schofield released his bombshell statement, Amanda Holden shared a cryptic photo on Instagram. She just shared a photo of the muscle emoji on her grid and everyone is speculating it’s to do with Phillip Schofield and some sort of victory on her part.

Rylan also shared a cryptic photo

A few hours after Phillip Schofield quit all ITV roles and released a statement, Rylan posted a photo to his Instagram story where he held a peace sign and smiled at the camera. Obviously this could mean absolutely nothing but fans are also hinting at Rylan taking over from Phillip at the Soap Awards.

Dr Ranj is facing a storm of his own

Former This Morning doctor, Dr Ranj Singh, spoke out a couple days ago in the wake of the Phillip Schofield controversy. Dr Ranj hit out at the “toxic culture” at the ITV daytime show. He claimed he was managed out after taking his concerns to Emma Gormley, the head of ITV daytime. In a post on Twitter he said: “I was on the show for 10 years and I genuinely loved and valued working on there. However, over time I grew increasingly worried about things behind the scenes and how people, including myself, were being treated. I didn’t know the truth about what was going on with Phillip, but I do know the issues with This Morning go far beyond him. It takes more than one person to create a culture.”

Dr Ranj said he did what he thought was right by going higher up to make a complaint about This Morning’s editor. He said: “I then found myself being used less and less. I even took my concerns directly to the top of ITV: the culture at This Morning had become toxic, no longer aligned with ITV values, and I felt like because I whistle-blew I was managed out. But as history and experience have taught us, things like bullying and discrimination are very hard to prove, particularly in hindsight and when the people in power control the narrative. As we’ve seen, no review or investigation is foolproof.

“I haven’t worked on the show since and I’m not the only one who has spoken up or experienced similar. That was two years ago and frankly, it still hurts. The whole process was pretty heart-breaking and even affected my mental health. But I’m happy to say I’ve found my feet again, know my worth and have found my tribe.”
