Here’s what Kylie Jenner really thought of Timothée’s declaration of love, according to a body language expert
Turns out it might not actually all be positive?!
Timothée Chalamet just did the unthinkable (well… for Timothée), he went public-public with Kylie Jenner at an awards show, and the internet basically levitated.
At the 2026 Critics’ Choice Awards, he closed out his Best Actor speech with a super personal thank you, calling Kylie his “partner of three years.”
Cameras immediately cut to Kylie in the audience, glossy-eyed, visibly emotional, and appearing to mouth a response back.
Sweet? Cringe? A little of both? Depending who you ask, the vibe was either rom-com perfection or “help, this is too much to watch…”
Timothée declared his love publicly

The big moment happened on January 4, 2026, when Timothée won Best Actor at the 31st Critics’ Choice Awards for Marty Supreme.
As he wrapped his speech, he thanked “my partner of three years” (yes, three years) and told Kylie, “Thank you for our foundation. I love you. I couldn’t do this without you.”
The broadcast then panned to Kylie, who looked teary and appeared to mouth back, “I love you, too.”
And because the universe loves a cinematic beat, the two also shared a kiss after his win was announced, per People.
Now, about that “three years” line: publicly, Kylie and Timothée were first linked in April 2023, and their first very obvious “yep, that’s them” moment was that Beyoncé concert PDA in September 2023.
So the “three years” could be Timothée rounding up, referencing when things really began privately, or simply leaning into the “we’ve been solid for ages” energy. Either way, it’s the most direct label he’s given her on a major awards stage, ever.
And let’s be real… this is a couple that usually plays it stealth mode.
They’ve popped up at big moments… remember those Golden Globes kisses?! But they tend to keep the gushy stuff off-mic.
That’s why this speech landed like a surprise Beyoncé drop, especially because it wasn’t a casual shout-out. It was a full-on foundation-and-love declaration, delivered to a room full of cameras.
A body language expert decodes the moment

If you felt a tiny secondhand squirm while watching Kylie react, you’re not alone, and a body language expert basically agrees that the energy wasn’t pure red-carpet polish.
Judi James suggested Kylie appeared “slightly uncomfortable” as Timothée led the way while they entered the ceremony, while Timothée showed “high sociability and excitement.”
Translation: he looked buoyant and in his element, while she seemed a bit more cautious and not totally in control of the room, per the Daily Mail.
That difference actually makes sense if you think about their public personas.
Timothée’s an awards-season creature, he knows the rhythm, the schmoozing, the on-camera beats.
Kylie’s mastered cameras too, obviously, but awards shows are a different species than reality TV or brand events.
According to Judi, “Kylie looks less assured behind him. Her anxiety is hinted at from the constant and unnecessary-looking auto-contact checking and self-preening rituals as she touches at her hair several times…
“The most powerful tell of a lack of self-confidence comes as she seems to place her thumbnail against her teeth in a self-comfort gesture…”
As for the speech moment itself? Kylie’s visible emotion (those glossy eyes!) and the apparent “I love you” mouthed back read as genuine affection, but also a little like she was processing being put on the spot in real time.
