Gary King’s life looks drastically different after Below Deck allegations got him sued
He faced repercussions after a night of heavy drinking
For years, Below Deck Sailing Yacht’s Gary King was the cheeky, flirtatious first officer who kept viewers entertained with his charm, drama and endless boat romances.
But off-camera, things took a seriously dark turn. Gary’s life has seemingly changed drastically since allegations of misconduct surfaced, leading to a lawsuit that rocked the Bravo world.
Once known for steering through stormy seas, Gary faced waves of controversy that completely altered his career and reputation.

Gary King joined Below Deck Sailing Yacht back in 2021 and quickly became a standout on the crew.
Known for his charm and flirtations, he often found himself at the centre of romantic triangles and crew drama aboard the Parsifal III.
His banter with chief stew Daisy Kelliher was a running theme across several seasons, and he became a familiar Bravo face thanks to his bold personality and laid-back leadership style.
Behind the cheeky humour and yacht-life chaos, though, tensions were building behind the scenes that would eventually steer his career off course.
Gary had a lawsuit filed against him
In February 2025, Gary King was sued for sexual battery, assault, and harassment by two Below Deck production crew members, Samantha Suarez and Grey Duddleston.
The lawsuit, filed against King, Bravo, NBCUniversal, and production company 51 Minds Entertainment, accuses King of serious misconduct during filming in Sardinia in 2022, per The Wrap.
According to People’s court summary, Suarez claimed that while delivering refreshments to King’s hotel room on July 3 2022, he “grabbed her, restrained her by her upper body and arms, and pressed his body against her” without consent.
Duddleston, a camera operator, alleged he witnessed King’s repeated inappropriate behaviour, such as grabbing genitals of crew members and untying bikini tops, and was later fired for reporting it.
The lawsuit also accuses producers of failing to act after complaints, allegedly choosing to “protect Gary” for the sake of the show’s success.
Both plaintiffs claim they were later placed on a “do not hire” list within the production network.
King has denied the allegations.
He told Page Six he planned to “fully defend” himself and that the lawsuit contains “false claims.”
Per Variety, Suarez and Duddleston “sued King, Bravo and NBCUniversal in Los Angeles Superior Court. They are represented by Bryan Freedman and Mark Geragos… King was removed from the lineup of speakers at that year’s BravoCon, though he has remained a cast member on the show.”

Since the lawsuit, Gary has kept a noticeably lower profile. His Instagram still shows scenic sailing shots and travel updates.
Collider reported: “In Below Deck season five, Episode, King faced repercussions after a night of heavy drinking led to a crew member’s injury and property damage. He admitted to having no memory of the incident and reflected on how alcohol negatively affected his relationships and career.”
In late 2024, he hinted online that “one person’s lies can ruin someone’s career,” suggesting he feels unfairly portrayed via Newsweek.
By the looks of Gary’s Instagram page, he’s currently roadtripping around South Africa with his mom.
