‘Cultural appropriation’ to ICE backlash: Here’s why people are dragging King Kylie’s comeback
That blue hair still haunts me tbh
Kylie Jenner has somehow just brought back King Kylie, and it’s all through a new hobby of hers: singing. Basically, that era when she got super famous with her matte lipsticks and blue hair? It’s making a comeback, but not everyone is pleased about it.
She shared a music video snippet of herself breaking out of prison, and a lot of people are mad, because they think it’s insensitive to the current ICE raids happening in the USA. They say she’s “out of touch” for her video clip with cops as they march her out of a facility.
The clip shows Kylie with handcuffs on, as a nod to her King Kylie era a decade ago. Yet it’s not landed in the right way. One person wrote on Reddit, “The country’s boiling over, Kylie Jenner drops a handcuffed hot-pants photoshoot to promote COSMETICS. American rot.”

Kylie has tried to bring back her King Kylie era for ages, but some think it was linked to cultural appropriation. One person said, “The reason she can’t reheat these nachos correctly is because the King Kylie era was heavily associated with Blackness and Black culture.”
“King Kylie was an alter ego borderline. ghetto-coloured wigs, long nails , rappers, nightlife she was fun. Being Black is fun,” they added. Of course, there are others who are absolutely loving this comeback, but being a Kardashian, they’re usually met with criticism.
