Conjoined twins finally reveal how intimacy really works in their unique relationship
One of them got married last year
Conjoined twins Carmen and Lupita Andrade have addressed questions about intimacy after Carmen got married to her partner last year.
The twins, who have appeared in multiple reality TV shows, have been plagued with questions about how their relationship works intimately with Carmen’s husband, Daniel McCormack.
Carmen and Daniel met on Hinge in 2020 and whilst only those two are legally married, however as she and Lupita share the same reproductive organs there has been speculation about how they all handle it.
The pair hit back at queries at whether someone could say they’d had sex with two people at once, saying they’ve been “inappropriately fetishised.”
Daniel also called out those who make such remarks, saying: “People are obsessed with sex, you know? And it’s just like, frankly, it’s none of your f****ng business.”
However, Lupita explained that she has certain ways of being able to block out conversations or physical activity that she doesn’t want to be involved in.
She told People: “Yeah, I have headphones and a phone. I don’t care.”
She added that she would never want to get married “as she doesn’t want to” and is asexual, stating that she doesn’t share a romantic or sexual life with Lupita, despite being conjoined.
The pair added in a YouTube update that Carmen and Daniel aren’t sexually intimate in the way people would expect and that instead their marriage centres around friendship, love, and mutual respect.
Carmen explained: “I don’t know how else to put it. I think there’s a certain societal expectation that there needs to be affection the entire time within a relationship. All we do is joke around a lot of the time.”
As for what first drew Daniel to Carmen, he added: “Just being a genuine person, having a funny personality. And I mean, look at her, she’s adorable. I love my wife. We definitely shared that deep connection of loving animals.”
