The celebrity judges for Drag Race UK have been revealed and people are absolutely fuming
How have we gone from Andrew Garfield to this?!
Season seven of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is almost upon us, and luckily for us the full lineup of celebrity judges have been announced, although it’s looking more flop than fabulous.
RuPaul will be joined by Alan Carr, Graham Norton and Michelle Visage, but there are another nine celebrities who will be joining them.
Although, judging by the reactions of those on Twitter, it’s not exactly the lineup we were expecting for Drag Race UK season seven…
First off, there is a new super special guest this season, with radio host and podcaster Jordan North making an appearance.
As for how he feels about being on the new season, Jordan said: “I don’t think any of my friends or colleagues have believed me when I’ve told them I’m going to be on the latest series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, so now here’s the proof I’m going to be on the show!
“I’m not going to lie, being in the presence of Ru was an absolute joy but at the same time completely nerve wracking! I can’t wait for fellow fans to see the new series. I just know they are going to love it.”
Alrighty, so now let’s have a look at all the not so megastars who are gracing our screens, and let’s just remember that last year we got Andrew Garfield as a celebrity judge.
Actor and star of ‘Chewing Gum’, Susan Wokoma
Jamie-Lee O’Donnell
Derry Girls star Jamie is quite an iconic addition and I have a soft spot for her so I’m actually quite excited for her.
She said: “Being a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK was on my bucket list, and the experience was absolute magic!
“The incredible talent of the queens completely blew me away, and sharing the panel with Mama Ru, Michelle, and Alan was a proper bit of craic too. I can’t wait to see the finished product and the rest of the season!”
Jane Horrocks
Please don’t slate for me for this, and I might just be showing my age but I did have to google who this lady is.
In case, like me, you weren’t fully up to date on who Jane Horrocks is, she rose to fame on Ab-Fab which is an iconic show to be fair.
Of her time as a judge on season seven of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, she said: “I loved being on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. All the queens were super talented. I wanted them all to win!”
Joel Dommett
Joel is back once again, so you’ll either be over the moon to see him again or silently crying into your pillow.
Still, he seems very excited to be back, saying: “I’M BAAACK B**CHESSS! Can I say that? I’ll pop some asterisks in it. You can say any s**t using asterisks.
“Anyway – Guesting on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK once is a dream, but TWICE?! It’s the best fun. It’s like drag Disneyland. I can’t wait to watch me watching it all!”
Mazz Murray
No clue. I’m genuinely so sorry if you’re a Mazz Murray fan. She’s apparently a West End star and as a self proclaimed musical lover I sort of feel like I should have heard of her.
Still, Mazz admitted she “felt like the Supercar Blondie of Drag Race – Queens, start your engines!”
Michelle de Swarte
Michelle is a model, comedian and actor, but it sounds like she had a ball as a guest judge.
She said: “Nothing has come even close to spending a day doing what I have trained to do my whole life, JUDGE! And with the best to ever do it, Ru, Michelle and Graham.
“This season Drag Race is bringing you everything every fan wants, drama, fashion, runway looks to die for, and the kind of complicated relationships that make you happy the days are shorter and the nights are longer! ENJOY”
Mutya Buena
Any member of the Sugababes is a yes from me, with Mutya saying it was an “honour” to be asked to be a guest judge.
Nadine Coyle
I’m also here for Nadine, and I fear she’s going to give some scathing feedback to spice things up.
The Girls Aloud icon explained: “Having been a guest for season three’s Snatch Game (and impersonated by the one and only Charra Tea on season six’s Snatch Game!), it’s such a dream come true to be a guest judge on this season of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK!
“What an incredible experience to see the immense talent and creativity from the queens, and it was a joy to sit on the judges panel with Michelle, Graham, and the spellbinding RuPaul! You’re all in for a treat!”
Sophie Willan
I also haven’t heard of Sophie Willan, although she’s won a BAFTA so good for her!
She said: “I had an absolutely fabulous time as a guest judge! What a bunch of gorgeous, talented queens – I laughed, I gasped, I got very emotionally invested – the dream gig!”
Susan Wokoma
Big yes for Susan, I absolutely loved her in Chewing Gum and I’m very much here for her being a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK season seven.
She’s just as excited as I am, saying: “The drag-shaped-Bat-signal finally appeared and I was READY! Absolutely beside myself to be joining Michelle, Alan and Ru for Series 7. PINCH ME!”
