RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star endured four ‘homophobic and transphobic attacks’ in one month
'I’ve had verbal abuse, both in and out of drag'
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Pixie Polite took to Instagram Stories this week to share how they’d endured a vile “homophobic attack” while out shopping.
Pixie shared how they were taken to hospital with a suspected concussion after an assault “in Tesco at Colliers Wood” in London. They wrote on IG Stories: “Just got assaulted… Punched in the back of the neck/head. Sick of this sh*t.” And, it turns out this is actually just one of four separate incidents the Drag Race UK star has awfully been through in the past month.
Pixie endured four recent ‘attacks’
After being hospitalised following the vile Tesco attack, Pixie shared an update via Instagram.
They wrote: “Hi all. Lots of messages, texts and calls. All appreciated and seen, but no brain space to respond properly, so just popping a lil something here for now. Main point is I’m ok, police were surprisingly great.”
Pixie then shared with Pink News that although it was the first time they endured a physical attack, this wasn’t the first time they’d experienced homophobic or transphobic verbal abuse.
“I’ve had four incidents in the last month where I’ve had verbal abuse, both in and out of drag,” they said.
Pixie reportedly endured “a threat of assault” in the past few weeks.
Drag Race UK star gave an update
After a month of “adversity,” Pixie Polite shared with her Instagram followers that she’s “resting lots and feeling OK” after her hospitalisation.
They wrote: “Been a funny old week so far, but you just gotta camp it up in the face of adversity!”
Pixie added a word of “thanks” for everyone’s “overwhelming support” during this time.
In another update after the “homophobic attack,” they wrote: “Majorly appreciate everyone’s concern and blown away by the amount of messages I have received. Feeling a little groggy today, and have taken the day off to rest and process what happened.
Overall, I’m pretty much fine, but I am feeling the same sense of righteous indignation I felt last night. So please enjoy this picture of me looking like a bad ass, while I daydream about justice today.”
