Influencer’s husband unexpectedly passed away, now she’s preserved and framed his tattoo
'It gave me something I could hold'
A TikTok star named Angelica is “healing out loud,” and she’s sharing the steps she’s taking to grieve the loss of her late husband, however unique they may seem. Influencer Angelica is a “sports mom” with “big energy,” according to her bio, and she’s opening up following the heartbreaking loss of her “person.”
Influencer’s husband passed away unexpectedly
@realangelicavibes This will never feel real…
Taking to TikTok on July 18, Angelica explained that her husband passed away. In the comments, she said his heart tragically “stopped.”
Angelica said that she’s going through many, many emotions each day following her husband’s passing. But the choice to get her late husband’s tattoo preserved has really helped both her and her son.
They both picked the tattoo they wanted, adding how her husband had “over 70” in total. Angelica had a skull inked with the Pittsburgh football team’s logo preserved in memory of her partner.
She wrote in the post’s caption:
“Even though we’ve had his ashes, it didn’t give us the true feeling of him. How does 250 lbs, muscles, and tattoos accumulate to a box… it doesn’t. Having a piece of him that I can see, feel, and love is what we needed more than anything. I can’t wait to tell you about the process, show you the final piece, and explain how powerful having his tattoo preserved really is for the grieving process.”
Explaining in another video how the process works, Angelica said: “You outline it, and then the tissue is removed by a mortician.” She added how the company she used, Save My Ink Forever, “took about 90 days…” to get the final piece to her.
The influencer added: “It’s in a frame, you don’t touch it,” and continued to say that the piece “filled the biggest void.”
It’s helped her grieving process
@realangelicavibes Ashes didn’t bring me peace. But preserving his tattoo gave me something I could hold when the nights felt endless. This choice isn’t for everyone, but it was for us. Please respect that.❤️ #griefjourney #tattoopreservation #widowtok #griefisnotlinear #carrythemwithyou #realgrief #memorialtattoo #healingafterloss #realangelicavibes #savemyinkforever #widowlife #grievingoutloud #reallove #griefsupport
Angelica has shared her grieving journey with the world. And she’s explaining why the preservation process worked so well for her.
“When I got the phone call that you can come and pick up your husband’s remains, I thought that was going to help so much. And, I was sitting, I brought him home, and I was sitting in our living room and I had the box, the urn, on the dining room table…”
Angelica explained that while she was sitting with the urn, she looked across to one of the pictures in her home.
She broke down in tears and said: “I just couldn’t understand how my 250lb muscular, tattooed, my person accumulated to a box…”
Angelica said the thing she thought would “help” her grieving process actually “did the complete opposite.”
“I respect and I understand that every form of your person is different… ashes can fill that void, or having a picture of their tattoo is so much more to them than a preservation. I respect that, but that is the beauty in that we are all different.”
