Big Brother contestant slammed for using derogatory ableist slur on the live feed
He immediately backtracked after he realised the moment had been caught
Zae Frederich, a 22 year old contestant on Big Brother USA, is getting slammed after he used an ableist slur during the show’s live feed on Tuesday.
He made the comment whilst playing chess with fellow cast member Keanu Soto. According to multiple videos shared online he said: “Oh sh*t. I’m a f***ing r****d.” He then immediately backtracked, stating: “Damn I shouldn’t say that word.”
Big Brother co-star Keanu was quick to call Zae out on his use of the ableist slur, saying: “No, you shouldn’t.” Zae added: “That was one of the ones I was working on not saying.”
Keanu then told Zae that it’s unlikely his use of the slur got picked up by any of the cameras, saying: “People probably don’t even have the live feed on us. That one camera watching us is it.”

There are now calls from viewers to have Zae removed from Big Brother, as previous contestants have been removed in the past for using slurs.
In 2023, Luke Valentine was asked to leave the show after he was caught using the n-word, breaking the rules of conduct in the process.
The Big brother host stated at the time: “It has been an emotional 24 hours in the Big Brother house as the houseguests learned that one of their own broke the Big Brother code of conduct and was removed from the game.
“Due to violating the Big Brother code of conduct by using a racial slur, Luke has been removed from the house.”
After his axe from Big Brother, Luke spoke out about his thoughts on getting removed for his slur use, saying: “I’m not upset at the production.
“Their hands were tied. They had to make a sacrifice. I understand why. It is upsetting. I think they made the wrong decision. I think a slap on the wrist would have been a much better thing.”
