All the biggest Netflix reality TV shows where cast members don’t get paid a dime
What's even the point of being on them then?!
Whilst you might be thinking that anyone who appears on a bonkers or otherwise Netflix reality TV show is getting paid big bucks, you’d be dead wrong.
As it turns out, the majority of cast members don’t get paid a cent for their participation, so let’s have a look at the biggest Netflix reality TV shows where they earn nothing.
Love on the Spectrum

The producer of Love on the Spectrum, Cian O’Clery, revealed the truth behind whether the Netflix cast gets paid for being on the show in an interview with Parade.
The producer confirmed that whilst none of the cast members are paid for being on the show, all of their dates and transportation are taken care of, commenting: “People aren’t left out of pocket by being part of the experience, that’s all I can say.”
A casting call from 202o for Love on the Spectrum posted on Backstage also confirmed that cast members would not be paid.
It stated: “As we are a documentary series, we cannot pay for participation, but we do cover any meals and transport costs incurred. We work around people’s schedules to make it work.”
Temptation Island

The cast of Temptation Island also don’t get paid for their time on the show, however their flights and accommodation alongside food all get paid for and provided to them by Netflix.
Given that they get to spend four week in Hawaii for free, I’d say that for some of the cast members appearing on the show they get a pretty good gig out of it!
Perfect Match

Perfect Match is another Netflix show where cast members have spoken out about not getting paid, with Savannah speaking to Distractify about her experience.
She shared that nobody was paid to appear on the show, but hinted that “other people” had claimed they were in fact paid.
Too Hot to Handle

Bryce Hirschberg opened up about whether the contestants of Too Hot to Handle got paid to appear, saying that Netflix said they’d get huge “exposure” from appearing on the show.
Speaking on the Hollywood Raw podcast, he revealed: “There was no fee. The way they pitched it was, ‘Oh Bryce, you’re going to make a ton of money after this anyway. You’re going to get a ton of exposure.’
“And I’m not really going on it for the money anyway. I’m going for the experience and I know that exposure will come through as well which is nice.”
He continued: “It’s a luxury vacation with hot singles… on Netflix. That’s easy money. And a five-star chef. I never ate that good in my life… or since! They looked after us.”
Selling Sunset

Okay, so this one isn’t quite as defined as the others in that whilst the cast do get paid, it’s very circumstantial.
Emma Hernan appeared on the Richer Lives by SoFi podcast and explained that if a Selling Sunset cast member doesn’t feature in an episode then they don’t get paid by Netflix.
She explained: “For our show, we get paid per episode. If you make the episode, you get paid. If they cut you out of the episode, you don’t get paid.”
