Amongst other huge celebrities, here’s why Kanye was directly mentioned during P Diddy trial
Fellow celebrities such as Mike Myers and Kid Cudi were also brought up
The trial of P Diddy started this week, with several high profile celebrities being mentioned, including that of Kanye West.
But why exactly was his name brought up, and it is relevant to the case? During the jury selection for the P Diddy case, which happened on Monday, one potential juror admitted he recognised Kanye’s name from a list associated with the trial, according to Mail Online.
The man, a scientist in his forties, explained that whilst he did know Kanye, he would still be able to remain impartial and unbiased in his judgement if chosen to be part of the jury for the P Diddy trial.
Kanye was one of several other celebrities who were mentioned during the federal court session, alongside Mike Myers and Michael B Jordan. Their relevance in the case has not been made public.
Other celebrity names that were recognised by potential jurors included Michelle Williams from Destiny’s child, actress Lauren London, and rapper Kid Cudi.
There is no suggestion of any wrongdoing from those who were named.
Judge Subramanian explained that the list of people and places runs “several pages” and felt like an “appendix from Lord of the Rings.”
In order to speedup the process it was ruled that jurors would be given the list of places and people relevant to the case before they are brought into court before a final panel of 12 jurors and six alternates will be chosen.
To speed up the process, he ruled that jurors would be given the list to review before they are brought into court and questioned one by one before they seat a final panel of 12 jurors and six alternates.
Unlike previous celebrity trials, which have been broadcast live, P Diddy’s won’t be as federal courtrooms don’t allow electronic recording inside. The trial is expected to last at least eight weeks.
