Basically, he met her friends and immediately seemed to despise his new fiance, even more than the moment he found out she’d hooked up with someone he knew on the outside. There’s a specific point when people reckon he couldn’t see past the ick, and everyone’s pointing it out.

Dave got the ick after hanging out with Lauren’s friends. It was so obvious & now he’s just giving her every excuse, trying to make her feel bad about the guy she was “seeing” before coming on the show, just so he can get out of the relationship. #LoveIsBlind

Dave appeared to get the ick with Lauren on Love Is Blind, according to viewers. If it wasn’t cringy enough that Dave jokily told Lauren’s mom, “She’s not cute, she’s boring, I hate being around her,” it got worse when he met his then-fiance’s friendship group. And the timing makes sense that Dave couldn’t see past meeting Lauren’s friends, but blamed it on her hooking up with a mutual before the experiment.
Not to mention Dave didn’t want Lauren to meet any of his family or friends. She told him: “Our relationship is going be better when your sister meets me, when your friends meet me. And we’re going to get stronger and be able to focus on us when that’s not a piece of it,” but he replied, “My family, they don’t meet just anyone. I don’t want to waste her time either.”
There was a savage moment when it all changed
After Dave and Lauren returned home to Minnesota, Dave heard from some of his friends, who warned him about Lauren’s recent involvement with another man. The couple then met up with a few of Lauren’s friends, who supported her and said the man she’d been seeing beforehand was never a boyfriend. Still, Dave wasn’t convinced – and that’s the moment he got the ick, apparently.
In Episode 10, Dave didn’t come home after going out with friends. He texted Lauren in the middle of the night to say he was going to stay at his apartment, but she said in a confessional: “With Dave, I’m frustrated that he’s saying he wants to continue figuring thing out but then he leaves… And I’m the one who’s not ready for marriage?”
They sorted things over the next day when Dave came home, but Lauren said her parents were concerned she might “get hurt.” And that’s a classic example of how Dave not particularly liking Lauren’s friends gave him the ick – and we all know you literally cannot come back from that…
