Season 15 of The Real Housewives of New York City is now just a day away, but some fans can’t get past the loss they felt when their favorites were axed years ago.
Season 15 of Bravo’s hit show is set for release on October 1 when newbie Racquel Chevremont will join the show’s ranks. But frankly, a massive amount of fans miss the OGs.
With that in mind, Reality Tidbit has pondered one question: which former Housewives would fit well with the new cast of The Real Housewives of New York City?
It’s a complicated question when you think about it, given that you want a balance between drama and story. You can’t pick a housewife to return to based solely on her verbal fighting skills, otherwise Bravo would have already cloned Bethenny Frankel.
Would: Luann de Lesseps
Luann de Lesseps became known for a few things during her stint on the reality TV show, though arguably none more encompassing than her countess title.
For that reason, you might suggest that Luann would clash with the younger members of the new cast who don’t recognize her title with the same weight as her peers. Nonetheless, Luann’s transformation in more recent seasons proved her adaptability, making her the perfect choice for a returning cast member.
While some Housewives sink into the shadows after being axed from their shows, Luann did the opposite after she vacated the show in 2022 with the rest of the OG cast. She is truly flourishing right now, meaning there’s no better time for a comeback.
Would not: Ramona Singer
If Ramona Singer proved anything in her 14 seasons of RHONY it’s that she knows how to rub people the wrong way and make a situation considerably worse.
Ramona clashed with basically every cast member at least once, from the time she told Bethenny she’d be alone forever to throwing a plastic goblet at Kristen Taekman’s face during a cast trip.
For the above reasons, Ramona should be the last former star Andy Cohen hits up for a comeback.
Would: Kristen Taekman
Although Kristin was forgettable during her initial stint on the show, somewhat overshadowed by bigger personalities, her return on Ultimate Girls Trip changed many people’s opinions.
She stood up for herself against the ever-erratic presence of Kelly Bensimon, got frank about her husband’s cheating scandal, and managed to carefully navigate Dorinda Medley’s famed temper.
As one of the younger RHONY cast members, at least where the old cast is concerned, Kristin might be able to relate to the new batch a lot better.
Would not: Bethenny Frankel
Bethenny Frankel might be the famous famous Housewife of all time after dominating her respective seasons and succeeding in just about every business venture she has explored.
Though the season would undoubtedly be entertaining, Bethenny had a less-than-ideal departure from the Bravo universe and has since thrown shade at the show and Andy Cohen time and time again.
It doesn’t seem the new crop is that intimated by the Skinny Girl icon though as Jessel Taank earlier dubbed Bethenny the “most overrated Housewife.”
Would: Sonja Morgan
Sonja Morgan cemented herself as an iconic housewife after years of questionable business ventures, her overt sexuality, and enough abundance of candles to put Yankee Candle out of business.
Despite her detriments, Sonja proved time and time again that she is the ultimate cultural chameleon, able to adapt to almost any situation.
Though some said the 60-year-old was immature during her stint, behaving as a teenager would, Sonja’s dedication to keeping up with the young ones would surely drive up the viewing numbers. We’re not saying it would be pretty, but it sure would be entertaining.
Would not: Dorinda Medley
Dorinda Medley started her RHONY career as one of the most popular stars, only to end with everyone questioning her drinking habits and biting tongue. Some fans even called her a bully.
Much like Bethenny, watching Dorinda spar with the likes of Sai De Silva and Ubah Hassan would be the Superbowl of reality TV, but we could imagine it becoming monotonous very quickly.
If Dorinda were to return to her season 7 headspace, then we could see her stepping into a motherly role in the group. If seasons 10 to 12 Dorinda returned, they better stock up on tissues.
Would: Carole Radziwill
Despite being more low-key where Bravolebrities are concerned, journalist Carole Radziwill was a firm fan favorite from seasons 5 to 10.
In Season 10, the unthinkable happened as besties Carol and Bethenny split, sinking their almost sisterly relationship into a sea of cutting words and “Why are you crying?”
Though the time was hard for fans of their bond, it did give Carol a chance to grow closer to Tinsley Mortimer. Carol’s ability to relate to someone 11 years her junior is but one example of how she could fit into the new cast of RHONY.
Would not: Tinsley Mortimer
Tinsley Mortimer’s storylines tended to lean towards either her quest for a husband, everything she lost after legal trouble, or her desperate need for a child.
Tinsley’s princess demeanor worked when most of the cast were older than her, but that same attitude simply wouldn’t slide if she was the eldest of the group. Not only that but she’s got her husband now, so leave her in marital bliss.
