Just weeks after appearing on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, a member of competing act Los Osos High School has died. Emily Gold was just 17 years old when she was found dead on September 13.
Los Osos High School dance troupe climbed the America’s Got Talent ranks during season 19. The group of 15 to 18-year-olds made it to the first round of semi-finals before being eliminated. Now, the Rancho Cucamonga, California students are mourning the loss of one of their beloved members and friends.
Emily Gold dies at 17
Los Osos High School dancer and America’s Got Talent season 19 alum Emily Gold has tragically died at 17 years old.
“The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department confirms the student died by suicide,” reports E! News.
The report states: “The dancer was found dead on Sept 13 at around 11:52 pm, when officers responded to a call of a pedestrian down in the lanes of a highway in Rancho Cucamonga, California.”
The circumstances of Emily’s death are “still being investigated.”
Dancer dies one month after AGT
Emily and her dance team were eliminated from AGT season 19 in round one of the quarterfinals.
The Hakuna Matata Acrobats advanced to the final. Ashes & Arrows, Roni Sagi & Rhythm, and Richard Goodall also advanced in the competition during the August 13 episode.
However, Los Osos didn’t make it through.
Following the sad news of Emily’s untimely passing, a GoFundMe page was set up to support her family.
The bio reads: “With great sadness we share our Los Osos Grizzly Emily Gold has passed away. As a community lets come together and support the Gold family in this difficult time. Please know this money will go directly to the family to support them and help with expenses.”
At the time of writing, $31,326 has been raised of the $50,000 target.
Tributes pour in for the dancer on social media following her passing.
Emily’s Instagram page is filled with comments from friends who say how much they miss her. One writes:
“I miss you so much em em. i wish i could’ve said goodbye one last time. i hope you have found your peace that you deserve. i love you forever big sissy.”
More send prayers to Emily’s family at this time, and others write: “Rest easy beautiful girl.”
The official IG page for the AGT star’s dance team also paid tribute to her this September.
The Los Osos dance team writes: “We thank everyone for the love and support during this time of grief and just ask that you keep the Gold family in your thoughts and prayers.”
