Before the Love Island 2024 winner was even announced, Mimi and Josh had made history. They became the first couple on the show to reach the top two – and then they went ahead and won the ITV series!
Mimi and Josh win Love Island
Mimi and Josh have officially won Love Island 2024! There’s no doubt Mimi was a firm fan favorite during her romance with Ayo, but fans’ hearts warmed even more when she was left single.
When Josh came in, he whisked her off her feet and gave her true Princess treatment. He stuck up for her through every argument with Joey and Sean, and even wrote a poem for her.
He’s helped her believe in love again. Even though they didn’t make their relationship official or even drop the L-bomb, ITV fans loved watching their bond grow stronger – especially after their date!
They break ITV show’s record
Mimi and Josh have made history as Love Island’s first ever Black couple to win, as well as the first to reach the top two. It comes after Love Island USA crowned Black winners, Kordell and Serena.
Fans are overjoyed to see them finish in first place, especially as Mimi had a difficult journey in the villa. One fan wrote, “Josh and Mimii are the first BLACK couple to ever win the love island uk.”
As they are the newest couple, they were not the Bookies’ favorite to win, but they truly defied all odds and shocked the nation. Mimi couldn’t believe it herself and cried tears of overwhelm.
‘Jomii’ dominates social media
Before Mimi and Josh were crowned the winners, they had a loyal fanbase on social media. Many were encouraging each other to vote for ‘Jomii’ the minute the voting system opened.
“THE FIRST BLACK COUPLE TO WIN LOVE ISLAND JOMII EVERYONE,” penned a viewer.
Many noticed how they won on Joey Essex‘s birthday, who they fought with in the villa. One fan wrote: “Mimi & Josh winning on Joeys birthday ? This is sensational #LoveIsland.”
