Margaret Josephs may have David Arquette calling her “Claudia” this July, but she doesn’t mind the mistake if she’s his “MVP.” The Real Housewives of New Jersey star is keeping her spirits high despite her husband, Joe Benigno, being diagnosed with cancer during this season.
Margaret and Joe have been at the center of all kinds of drama on The Real Housewives of New Jersey. The couple always remains strong no matter what comes their way. They’ve had a lot to deal with over the past year or so as Margaret’s ex-husband, Jan Josephs, passed away and Joe received some scary news in regard to his health.
Joe Benigno’s cancer diagnosis
During The Real Housewives of New Jersey season 14, Margaret opens up about her husband’s prostate cancer diagnosis.
She says: “He’s the most secure man I know. We had some shocking things happen on the show with his health.”
Margaret explains how he was “going through tests” during filming: “He was diagnosed with prostate cancer.”
A RHONJ clip sees Margaret on the phone to a doctor who confirms the results were “abnormal.”
The doctor adds: “The Exo score, which should be about twenty, was about seventy.”
RHONJ star hopefully caught cancer early
As the doctor explains the results to Margaret over the phone, she gets upset and says she “didn’t like” the bad news.
The doctor adds: “What this means is there’s a chance, of course, that there’s prostate cancer but… it’s very, very early.
“If it is something, we’ve got to know about it. Let’s get the MRI. And then we’ll do a biopsy after that.”
Margaret adds in a confessional: “He actually does have prostate cancer. And, they’re just doing active surveillance right now, not treating it.”
Speaking of herself and Joe, Marg adds: “He and I are both very strong.”
RHONJ scenes see Margaret break down in tears to Joe as she says: “I’m freaking out.”
Consoling her, he says: “Don’t freak out.”
Margaret adds: “I’m trying not to freak out. I want you to be OK.”
Joe says he’s “fine,” before Margaret asks: “Why are you fine and I’m freaking out?”
He tells her: “I see the glass is completely full.”
Margaret tells the cameras: “Everything just brings us closer and we realize what we have in our life, we’re both very committed to each other, committed to our family, committed to our life together.”
Melissa Gorga says: “He’s doing wonderful… He’s got it under control. He’s handling it all.”
