Kim Kardashian is seeking the help of a therapist to work through her parenting skills. The reality TV star reveals her latest endeavors to get her household under control during an episode of The Kardashians season 5. Now, a body language expert tells Reality Tidbit how Kim is “making a subconscious move” to defend her parenting against her sister’s judgment.
During The Kardashians, the family members have recalled their younger years growing up with Kris Jenner as a mom. While Kim Kardashian likened her parenting style to her mom’s, Kris told her how her house was “like a circus” as her kids are out of control. However, Khloé Kardashian also dished on how Kris let her drive a car aged 14 and vomited all over her favorite coat. So, things weren’t always running smoothly, it seems.
Kim Kardashian wants to be stricter with her kids
Kim Kardashian has openly admitted she struggles to keep her kids in check during episodes of The Kardashians.
Season 5 sees her compare her parenting style to that of her sister, Khloé Kardashian.
While Khloé seems to be flying the flag for ‘parent of the year’, priding herself on her lunch box packing and strict schedule, Kim admits she can’t get it together in the mom department.
In other aspects of Kim’s life, she’s thriving. As a billionaire, when it comes to business, she feels totally in control.
But, running a household of four kids is a different matter for the 43-year-old.
Kim ‘makes subconscious move’
Body language and relationship expert, Nicole Moore, gives Reality Tidbit her take on where Kim’s at in her parenting journey.
During The Kardashians season 5 episode 8, Kim discusses being more strict with her children.
Nicole says: “She appears to be somewhat insecure about her parenting and unsure of her parenting skills. When Kim describes being able to be tough in business but not on her children, she’s giving us insight as to why she’s a less strict parent than she wants to be. As Kim describes it, she was never able to withstand her children’s protests when she said no to them, so she would give in to their requests or hand them a screen to avoid dealing with the pushback.”
The body language expert continues: “It appears she’s aware now that she needs to build her tolerance for disappointing her children in service to bringing more structure into the household.”
No phones during meals. I never wanted to deal with it. “The simplest thing tht she told me was to take down the screen time.”
Kim thrives in the business world
Delving into Kim’s take on how she can run businesses and “be really firm,” but is too soft at home, Nicole tells Reality Tidbit:
“It’s possible that Kim is less emotionally invested in the people she does business with than she is in her children, so it’s easier for her to be tough, say no and ask for what she wants in business. As a very caring mother, Kim may feel a responsibility for her children’s happiness whereas in business, she likely doesn’t feel responsible for the emotions of those she’s doing business with. In business, Kim is likely able to push her emotions, fears and discomfort aside and just get the job done, which is part of what makes her such a great businesswoman, but with her children, she’s not able to focus on the larger goal of structure, she gives in to the temporary discomfort.”
A point of interest for the body language expert plays out in episode 8: “Kim says that Khloe was right about kids needing structure, but towards the end of the clip, Kim becomes a bit defensive about her parenting. As Khloe starts giving her opinion to Kim about parenting, Kim defends her parenting by saying her kids aren’t on screens all of the time, a subconscious move to show that she’s not a bad parent perhaps because she was worried Khloe might judge her parenting.”
She adds: “It’s likely that Kim feels better than her sisters in business and she has full confidence there but in parenting, she feels like her sisters may do a better job than her. Kim seems more open to taking the therapist’s advice on parenting than Khloe’s even though the therapist has essentially told Kim what Khloe has been saying to her for years, proving that sometimes you really do need to hear advice from a third party rather than your family or friends.”
