The Celebrity Traitors cast reportedly get £40k each, whether they’re banished first or not
It’s just for appearing on the show
There are some pretty major names in this year’s Celebrity Traitors cast, so naturally, the question has to be: How much are they actually being paid to spend weeks plotting, lying and accusing each other?
This year’s line-up includes Michael Sheen, Richard E Grant, Maya Jama, Ross Kemp and Bella Ramsey, alongside comedians, actors, presenters and other familiar faces.

According to reports, the celebrities are paid a flat fee of £40,000 for taking part in the series. The figure was discussed on The Rest Is Entertainment podcast in July 2025, when host Marina Hyde suggested the BBC had managed to secure the impressive cast by offering everyone the same amount.
“Look at the calibre of the people they got. They were able to pay everybody a blanket 40k fee, right? They’re paying them a 40k fee,” Marina said.
However, it seems that £40,000 isn’t necessarily a hard-and-fast figure for every celebrity who signs up. Former rugby player Joe Marler, who appeared on the previous series, said he was actually paid £30,000 for his stint in the castle.

The appearance fee isn’t dependent on how long you actually last in the game. The celebrities reportedly receive the same fee regardless of whether they’re secretly recruited as a Traitor, spend the series as a Faithful, or get sent packing after the very first round table.
Alongside their appearance fees, the cast are competing for a prize pot of up to £100,000. The exact amount depends on how successfully the celebrities perform in the challenges throughout the series, meaning there isn’t necessarily a guaranteed £100k waiting for whoever makes it to the end.
But unlike the regular version of The Traitors, the celebrities aren’t going to pocket the winnings themselves. Instead, the eventual prize money will be donated to a charity of the winner’s choice.
While the UK celebrities might be getting a healthy appearance fee for entering the castle, they’re not quite playing for a quarter of a million dollars at the end of it.
Still, £40,000 to spend a few weeks accusing your famous friends of being Traitors? Not the worst day’s work.
