Great British Bake Off’s first eliminated baker Danni has spoken out since leaving the tent

Great British Bake Off’s first eliminated baker has spoken about their time in the famous tent, and they’re actually pretty happy with how it all went.

Danni, a 25-year-old HGV service centre administrator from Dorset, became the first baker to leave the new series after Tuesday night’s episode.

The first episode saw all 12 bakers make it through to the next round, after Shannon was absent for some of the challenges due to medical issues. Danni was then the first contestant to be sent home when the competition returned.

But rather than being too gutted about their early exit, Danni has said they’re actually pleased they were the first one out.

Speaking about their time on the show on Second Helpings, Danni said: “Thank you so much, it’s been so lovely, it has! Oh my goodness, I am really happy that I was the first one out because I know everyone in there has more skills than me.

“But I think I’ve learned something about myself, which is that in the right circumstances I can make quite a few friends. Finding love in a group of strangers – that’s just beautiful.”

Honestly, if you’re going to be the first person eliminated from Bake Off, finding a whole new friendship group in the process is probably a pretty decent consolation prize.

“Of all the bakers there I was easily the weakest, which isn’t bad at all – it means I have 11 other people to bug about baking questions now whenever I want!” they said.

Danni lives in Dorset with their parents, sister and three cocker spaniels. Before being eliminated, they admitted they were “easily the weakest” baker in the competition.

Despite their short time in the tent, it sounds like Danni came away with something they weren’t expecting: A group of friends they clearly loved spending time with.
