Join The Sheffield Tab team: We’re looking for new writers and social media contributors

The new academic year is here, which means we are looking for more writers and social media contributors to join our team.

No prior experience is needed, and any student at a Sheffield uni (including University in Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam) is welcome to get involved. 

There will be two open meetings in the next few weeks that you can attend and meet the team. New and existing writers are welcome, but if you cannot attend our in person meetings, get in touch with us through our Instagram and we will get back to you.

News writers: To work on daily coverage, as well as breaking news and exclusives 

Features writers: To work on pieces related to student life in Sheffield and around the city 

Social media contributors: To create, post and edit social media content across all of our platforms.

Your work will be featured on our online platforms and will be read by Sheffield students, university staff and residents.

It may also be featured on the Tab’s national site (which receives millions of views monthly) or picked up by other national publications. Sheffield exclusives have previously been featured in the Telegraph, The Daily Mail, and the Yorkshire Post.

There’s also opportunities to apply for summer work experience placements and chances to receive useful training from the national Tab team. 

When you are a part of The Tab, you’ll also get to meet, work with and collaborate with other students from across both Sheffield universities and from other Tab publications from across the country. 

Getting involved with the Sheffield Tab is also fantastic for future prospects: previous student writers and editors at The Tab have gone on to work for BBC news, Vogue, the Telegraph and more. 

Please also note that, as with most student media, our opportunities are voluntary and not paid.

• University of Sheffield: 2nd October at The Bloomery
• Sheffield Hallam: 9th October at The Nursery Tavern

Students from both universities are welcome at every meeting- whichever is most convenient.
