Tyson’s Mormon wife before MAFS Australia shares what *really* happened between them

The intruder brides and grooms are here. On MAFS Australia we’ve just met the latest cohort to enter the experiment. Arguably the most questionable of the new bunch was Tyson Gordon, a Trump loving, woke hating groom who had a wife prior to MAFS Australia.

He definitely raised a few eyebrows. When Tyson entered the show he said he wanted a wife who was feminine but not a feminist, and said at least five times he hated “woke” people, and most definitely wouldn’t date anyone with green hair. We get it, ok?

Tyson also mentioned a previous marriage before MAFS Australia 2026, and basically said things with him and his wife didn’t work out because she didn’t clean the dishes enough. Now, the wife in question has had her say on what went down, and the rogue comments he made.

Tove Thoreson married Tyson in 2019, after they met at a ski resort in Utah the year before. She spoke to Daily Mail Australia, and said Tyson’s outdated opinions on women do not reflect her views, even as someone from a Mormon background. “I do not support or agree with the behaviour he has shown on television or what I experienced in real life,” she told the publication.

She then spoke more about their relationship, and said: “We were both young – I was only 21. I wasn’t even aware of those terms back then in regards to being ‘trad’. A lot of people may assume because I am Mormon that Mormon women are like that, but that’s not the case.

“Yes, we are more traditional possibly, but with Mormon women today we are not ‘submissive’ at all.”

Tove also shared, from her side of things, what really caused the breakdown of their marriage. On the show, Tyson had suggested it was because she was messy around the marital house. “Our relationship ultimately became unhealthy and difficult, which is why it ended,” she said. “The reasons for that are personal and not something I’m willing to discuss publicly.”

MAFS groom Tyson did also hint that he and his former wife were still on friendly terms, which Tove has claimed isn’t exactly true. From her side of things, they haven’t spoken in years, and aren’t friends.

She said: “I can’t comment on his views, now versus then, as I haven’t spoken to him in six years. Tyson and I are not friends and we do not speak, as that period of my life was very difficult and I have no interest in revisiting it publicly.”

Tove does however, not wish any ill on Tyson moving forward. She concluded: “I do not wish Tyson ill, and I sincerely hope that through everything happening publicly right now there can ultimately be some light and healing for him.”
