There’s ‘evidence’ that Rue is dead in Euphoria trailer, and I’m actually convinced

The new season of Euphoria is out in just 12 days, and there’s a viral theory going around that Rue is dead in a big part of the final season.

After a long, torturous three years, we’re finally getting a season three of Euphoria. The full trailer has dropped, confirming Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) marries Nate (Jacob Elordi) and starts an OnlyFans, as well as Jules (Hunter Schafer) getting into the sugar baby business.

But one major plot point heavily featured throughout the trailer is Rue (Zendaya) facing the consequences of her drug dealing in season two, and her relapse.

In a popular Reddit thread, one user shares a theory that Rue is actually dead by the end of the series.

“Someone is already out to kill her, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she does end up dead, especially since she narrates the entire series from her perspective,” they said. “We always see Rue in a church too, don’t ask me what that has to do with anything, I just feel it in my soul.”

Another person added: “Rue is just [Lexi’s] storyline; she is using her experience as Rue’s best friend to write it all out.”

This isn’t very far-fetched, as Lexi has been known to write plays based on the lives of her friends – “Is this f*cking play about us?”. Plus, in the trailer, we see that Lexi is working in the big leagues now and even getting her scripts praised by big network TV channels. The fact that it’s TV that she’s working with, not theatre or film, feels super intentional.

In the same thread, another person said: “Rue will either get taken and trafficked by Laurie and/or she will overdose.”

Dark! But I wouldn’t put it past Sam Levinson to go that dire with the series, as one big final hurrah. I guess we’ll see next Sunday!
