Wait, loads of The Celebrity Traitors cast went to university at Oxbridge?!

You’d never guess this from their inability to catch Traitors

The cast of The Celebrity Traitors are officially the worst ever at identifying at Traitors. It took the Faithfuls until the seventh episode to banish an actual Traitor – and he’s obviously been sus since the start. Based on their detective skills, you might be surprised to learn that a very large chunks of The Celebrity Traitors cast actually went to Oxbridge. Here’s what degrees they studied, and what they got up to while at uni.

Clare Balding originally applied to Christ’s College at the University of Cambridge for law because her dad went there. She didn’t get in, retook her A-Levels, then got into Newnham College for English literature. Clare Balding was on a rowing team and became president of the Cambridge Union Newnham made her an honorary fellow in 2014.

Stephen Fry

It’s not exactly a shock that Stephen Fry went to Oxbridge. He studied English literature at Cambridge. This explains why he likes namedropping Shakespeare plays, but appeared to have few skills of actual use when it came to sussing out Traitors. He studied at Queen’s College. Stephen Fry met Hugh Laurie at the Cambridge Footlights drama society, which sort of kicked off his whole career.

Nick Mohammed

Nick is honestly so clever. He completed his undergraduate degree at Durham University. He met his wife while he was studying there, which is super cute. Nick then did a PhD in seismology at Magdalene College, Cambridge. He got involved with the Cambridge student theatre scene and joined the Cambridge Footlights society. This apparently encouraged him to peruse acting as a career instead of academia.

Claudia Winkleman

Erm, does Claudia Winkleman count as part of The Celebrity Traitors cast, because she did also go to Oxbridge? She studied history of art at Cambridge’s Murray Edwards College (although it was called New Hall when she was there). Claudia Winkleman once claimed to have slept on the floor of her uni room for months because she was renting a sunbed which took up most of the space. Her signature look of a heavy fringe and black clothes came about while she was at Cambridge. Her fits would definitely blend in with the humanities girlies at Cambridge’s Sidgwick Site.
