Apparently it cost $20K to make this Love Is Blind moment of Joe even more dramatic?!

To be fair, it had a long-lasting effect

A former reality TV executive has spoken about how much she believes it cost Netflix and Kinetic Content to produce the Manchild clip of Joe walking back to his truck after the suit fitting on Love Is Blind, and claims it actually says a lot about what the crews think of him.

Basically, Ilia Yasmeen believes they would have paid at least $10K and possibly even up to $30K for the small clip, which hears Sabrina Carpenter‘s song, Manchild, played over the top. She said, “I get asked all the time if producers have favourites when they’re filming.”

She added, “Of course we do. And here’s the $20K way to know what production thought of Joe. Several people noticed when Love Is Blind played Sabrina Carpenter’s Manchild. Great catch, that’s what’s called a sync licence, when you pay for use of a popular song.”

She said, “For a sync licence, you pay based on a couple of different factors, 1) how long you’re going to play it in the show, 2) whether you’re going to need worldwide rights, which Netflix probably does, and whether it’s in perpetuity, meaning you pay one fee forever.”

“I’d estimate that song cost them between $10K to $30K just to play Manchild, and it probably took an extra week of someone’s work to get it cleared properly. There is a limited budget for popular songs like that and they have to be really selective about it,” Ilia added.

“So if that doesn’t tell you what they thought of Joe behind the scenes, I don’t know what will,” she continued. And people say it was “worth every penny” because they felt he was rude to the woman fitting his tuxedo, and to Madison, his now ex-fiance.
