Explained: What the Rapture actually is — with the ‘exact’ date and time it’s predicted

Believers have said it’s not a random date at all

A shocking new conspiracy theory has gone viral, and it claims to know the exact time and date when true Christians will vanish into the sky because of the Rapture.

The theory, which is being shared all over TikTok and YouTube, declares that the Rapture will take place between 23 and 24 September this year.

Believers say this is not a random date at all. Instead, it is tied to an old Biblical link with the Feast of Trumpets. According to scripture, a trumpet blast will mark the moment when “the dead in Christ will rise first” before the living faithful are swept up into the clouds.

So, what exactly is the Rapture?

The Rapture is part of an end-times belief system held by many evangelical Christians. It is, in theory, the moment when all believers in Jesus, both the living and the dead, will be taken up into the air to meet him and be carried into heaven.

Yes, literally lifted off the ground. Supporters are even sharing advice on TikTok like “don’t hold onto anything” as you rise, or “pray you’re not on the toilet” when it happens.

For those left behind, apparently, life is not so lighthearted. The belief is that seven years of tribulation will follow. It will be filled with famine, disasters, and violence, before Jesus returns to establish peace on earth.

So, where did this date come from?

The viral prediction started after a South African pastor, Joshua Mhlakela, claimed on YouTube that he had a vision of Jesus. In it, he heard the sound of heavenly trumpets. He was told that the Rapture would begin exactly on Rosh Hashanah which falls between 23 and 24 September 2025.

Now, a woman working for KPMG has even emailed her colleagues warning them to prepare. Her message insisted that “Jesus will take the Christians who are ready” on those dates. Naturally, screenshots have gone viral.

So, what is the exact time of the Rapture

One of the biggest debates right now is when on 23–24 September this will all unfold. The whole point of the Rapture is that no one will know when it happens. But according to the Forward, some people say it will happen at midnight in Israel and then sweep across the world hour by hour. Others believe it will strike everyone at the same moment, no matter their time zone.

This is not the first time people have predicted the Rapture. Similar claims were made in 1994, 2011, and 2017, all of which came and went without incident. The Bible itself even says “no one knows the day or the hour.”

Yet for those who believe, this year feels different. The date lines up neatly with the Feast of Trumpets, and recent global events have only have only heightened fears of the end.
